Just spent a week (May 5-May 12) on Lubbers and had a great time. We stayed at Beach Lubbers and wanted to send a big thank you out to Capt. Ron and Barbara for letting us stay in your beautiful home. Thanks also to Donnie for taking care of us. My 3rd time to Abacos and 2nd time at Beach Lubbers and had another great trip. I will miss you Beach Lubbers and all Abaconians until the next time.

Hello fellow Abaco enthusiasts. We'll be back down in July to stay in our second home for the first time, and we are brimming with excitement. Our daughter (20) and her boyfriend (22) will be along as well. We need to rent a car during our stay, and will need at least one of them to be listed as a second driver on the vehicle. Does anyone know a car rental business that will allow us to list someone under age 25 as a second driver? Thanks:confused:

Looking for Info on the sunken barge, west side of Lubbers

Last trip down we ran into some people on our last night that told us about a sunken barge on the west side of Lubbers. They said anyone who sails would know about it as they need to watch the tides and their draft so as not to hit it. Anyone have coordinates on that? Much appreciated if someone could post them.

Fwiw they said the snorkeling is really great there but there will be the odd Bull Shark. Yikes on that.

No Oil No Spoil Petition

I know that obviously I am not a Bahamian so I should have no say in this issue....

With that being said, I will say that I lived through Deepwater Horizon Incident at "Ground ZERO" in Perdido Key, FL and it was not fun. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever believe that I would have to live through that nightmare. I cried my eyes out when my beach was blacked out for months on end and I was ready to kill somebody when I found turtles and dolphins dead on my "home stretch" of beach.

In regards to the Bahamas, I remember in the darkest days when the macondo well was just spewing oil non-stop and it was on every news channel and radio station, you couldn't get a way from it. Then the media started reporting that spill would get picked up in the circle current of the Gulf and get pushed to the Keys and into the Gulf Stream and it was possible it would "black out" the east coast. I remember telling my wife that evening that this spill might reach the Bahama's if all of this hold's true. Needless to say I was wrong.

The lure of "easy money" is tough to resist and Oil may look like easy money but let me tell you, you don't want to go there!!!

We will be making a crossing on or about May 16th (weather permitting) from Fort Pierce to Sea Spray. We plan on clearing customs in Spanish Cay, then on to Elbow. Anyone else planning to make the trip next week? We will be in a 24 Sea Hunt center console.

Springfest at Schooners Bay

The community of Schooner Bay will be holding 'Spring Fest on the Harbour' May 19th with something for everyone to enjoy. Planned events include an Arts & Crafts Expo, Farmer's Market, Junkanoo Rush-out, Kayak Races, Kids Games, a 5K & 10K run/walk, and live music to name a few.
