What is the MLW depth on entering Black Sound? We are a sailboat and draw about 4ft9in. Is the tidal range about 2.5ft? Thanks. We hope to be there in December and on into the New Year.

There's a shallow bar to the starboard side when approaching Black sound out of the Sea of Abaco. Pick up a tide chart or get on line to make sure you're not leaving or entering at low tide. We took a 40' Beneteau that rew 5'8" and didn't have a problem.

Just don't "cut the corner" when hanging the right going in.

No sweat. Just schedule your entry / exit an hour either side of high tide to be safe. We draw 4’6” and have done it on less, but not recommended for your first time.

Dodge instructions excellent. Agree, do not drift to port as you round the second / third markers- it is a bit skinny over there.

Best,
Bob

I highly recommend that you purchase The Cruising Guide to Abaco by Steve Dodge from White Sound Press. It is a "must" for all Abaco sailers.

Absolutely, purchase the Dodge Guide. The 2010 edition is now available.

Thanks to all who posted. We have used Dodge for years, and have the 2010. We thank responders for personal experiences with that entrance.
