We will be staying in Ft. Lauderdale for one night on our way to HopeTown. Any recommendations for clean, inexpensive hotels near the airport? Anyone familiar with Days Inn or Sleep Inn & Suites near the airport? Thanks.

It's been awhile, but they're all about the same. One suggestion: find out which one is the newest and pick it. Remember to book it through Orbitz or Travelocity to save $! Have fun!

I stayed at the Comfort Inn Airport/Cruise Port South two years ago for a night after a cruise. It was clean, has a free shuttle to and from the airport, and free breakfast. It has a good restaurant on-site (yummy ribs!) and is in walking distance to a shopping plaza. They have a pool with a poolside bar, and when we were they had a musician playing by the pool in the evening.

We have done this on occasion.
If you are relying on shuttle transportation, make sure you check with the hotel.
If you are flying out of someplace other then FLL like the Jet Center, make sure the driver knows where to take you. My daughter and her friend got in a cab, told the driver where they wanted to go and the driver took them to the wrong location.
We are staying over on Good Friday; my wife got a hotel from one of the discount web sites and after booking we find out they don't have a shuttle. Pay a little more, call ahead and then relax and enjoy.
If you want more info send me a private email.

Cathy, I live a few blocks from the airport in ft laud. There are many hotels/motels around the airport. The newest is the Holiday Inn Express in or around the 1200 block of State Road 84. There is also a Days Inn, a Best Western, a Motel 6 and others all within 1/4 mile of each other on State Rd 84 just north of the airport. If you need further info let me know. Norman
