We're planning a trip in late May and would like everyone's input on the best place to stay. What we would like is a somewhat secluded beach, access to a boat, a house on the beach, and a restaurant/bar that's easily accessible. Too much to ask? We don't have our heart set on one particular island. I've checked out some places on Eleuthera and Treasure Cay, but we want to get opinions from people that have been there. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated. We're looking forward to our trip!!!

THANKS!

We will be staying on Elbow Cay the end of May. It's our 6th trip there. There are a number of houses on the beach and resaurants are always near. You might want to check the area around White Sound which is near Abaco Inn and Sea Spray Resort. But any place on Elbow Cay is great. check soon. The houses seem to be booking up already. You can check hopetownhideaways.com or elbowcayrentals.com or abacovacations.com and tanny key rentals.
Good luck. You will recognize us...we will be the ones with the wedding party on June 1st on the beach.

Check out Sea Level Cottages on Lubbers. Close to everything, is somewhat secluded and comes with a power boat. Amy and Austin who own and operate are good folk. www.sealevelcottages.com

What's the "Big House" at Sea Level Cottages like? Does it have A/C?

Chris and I are leaving tomorrow early morning and heading to Lubber's Quarters to stay in Clear Water Cottage (Part of Sea Level). I'll report back when we return. Amy and Austin have been super friendly and wonderful with communications. Before we even get there, I totally recommend looking into staying at Sea Level! Good luck!

Don't make your final decision until you visit Green Turtle Cay. Quiet, charming, friendly folks, beaches, diving, snorkeling, several great places to eat ( a couple fancy, several not - Laura's Kitchen is the BIG secret! ) a couple stores, liquor store, great bonefishing, houses for rent or resorts to stay at. Best to fly into Treasure Cay airport then ferry over. A golf cart rental puts the entire 3 mile-long Cay in easy reach. The ocean beaches along the No. end will be all yours.

Sounds like this may be your 1st visit. Suggest you stay in MH and use that as home base. Restaurants, rental companies, groceries, ferry transportation within walking distance. Travel to out islands via ferry or rental boat (get Dodge Guide) to Elbow, Guana, MOW, Lubbers are your choice depending on wind and your boationg experience. A rental car can take you South to Casaurina Point, Little Harbor, or Cherokee Sound. It can also get you North to Treasure, New Plymouth and Green Turtle via ferry. The native people of Abaco make it special. Take time to learn from them. The love in their heart will be what you take home as you leave. Enjoy!!

We own a Condo in Treasure Cay and love it! However, for your first trip, I would rent something at Hopetown/Elbow Cay. From that point you can do everything, have solitude and seclusion and decide what works best for you when you return!

Guana Seaside village, Guana Cay, Has all you asked about, Rooms or homes. You would need to rent a boat ,they have a dock. Bar & restaurant next to the pool. PLENTY of secluded Beach. We've been going there for the last 8 years

Green Turtle is definatly a great place. We stay at the Robert's Cottages...they have a dock there, and we always rent boats from Donny Sawyer. A walk to Gilam bay will take about 5-10 minutes, and town is 5 minutes away.

There are a lot of places on Gilam bay for rent as well.

The out-islands are the focal point of a trip to Abaco. To find the right one for you,I would recommend choosing any one of them, and visiting some of the others during your stay,to see what is comfortable for you.Personally,I prefer the socail life and the natural beauty of Hopetown.I can't imagine being unhappy staying on any of the Cays,as they are all special and beautiful. That is not to discount the mainland"Great Abaco"either,Marsh Harbour,Treasure Cay,Cooperstown, etc, you need to expirement. Thanks for all the great suggestions! We've decided on Treasure Cay, Mark's Beach View Bungalow to be exact, for this trip, but definitely plan on making many more trips in the future. I've bookmarked most of the places you have suggested and hope to stay at many different places. They all sound wonderful!

....it's little like asking which is your favorite child. They are all different in their own way.

The good news is that you can hardly go wrong. We've stayed numerous times at treasure Cay, a few times around Elbow and Marsh. We are doing our first overnight stay on guana for a few days in March. It seems that we spend so much time out on the water or out on "some beach" that where we stay is almost irrelevant. There are things to do both day and night wherever you go. Ya just have to keep going back untill you can answer the question for yourself.......that's our plan. We've been going since 1989 and I still don't know the answer 'cause it's all good!

Our vote is for Treasure Cay. We've been there around five times and still keep thinking about going back. We usually rent in the Villas.

Good choice! I saw his cottage on internet and it looks real nice. Plus he seems real nice. We also are going to TC, (next week) 4th visit, we love it, feels like home away from home but better! I agree that you can not go wrong with any of the cays or places there, it is just great!
