Run a search -- there was a thread about kitesurfing (a bit controversial) a few weeks ago.
Do you know of anyone who can give kitesurfing lessons? mel

When we lived on Guana Bruce learned how to kiteboard aka kitesurf aka kiting. We would go to Baker's Bay and he would set up on the beach and then attempt to fly over the water. A bit of a learning curve and you have to be in good physical condition. He would get swamped and I would take the boat out and check up on him. Good to have a boat around while learning. It is a fascinating sport combining winsurfing, surfing, sailing, and flying a large kite which happens to be attached to your waist via several strings... Can be extremely dangerous and lessons are really a good idea. Equipment is expensive. Kiting is probably NOT for teenagers/kids. The demographics on this sport place the participants in the 25-50 year age group. You really have to know what you are doing. Here on Palm Beach, about a week ago a kitesurfer got "teabagged" on the beach and has several pins and rods in his shoulder and leg. He made a bad decision to kiteboard in a stiff east wind - on shore which drove him up on the beach at a dangerous rate of speed. Another very well-known and very accomplished kitesurfer hit a breakwater down near Miami and is now in a vegitative state for the rest of his life.
Kitesurfing is getting very popular on Guana as we saw several folks coming on island last year and they got together with Bruce a couple times. Bruce and some pros held a clinic on the beach off of Nippers last winter and Erin took some great photos. Fun to watch. And in the Abacos you can do it on the Atlantic side or on the Sea of Abaco depending on wind conditions.

As Nancy pointed out kite surfing CAN be dangerous. I say "CAN" becouse it doent "HAVE" to be, that is up to the kiter!
The sport requires lessons, PROPER LESSONS!! Gear is not for rent except in a very few locations in the world. Then you take a lesson gear is provided other wize you have to buy it.
I'll be kite boarding in Abaco untell Feb 23,
