Ekali Main House

We are planning to rent the Ekali Main House on Elbow Cay....does anyone have any input?

I stayed there with friends a few years ago. It was a very nicely decorated home. Very nice porch with a great view. We felt you needed a cart and a boat. Can't really swim there and it is a good way from town. But a beautiful home. Hope that helps.

If I remember correctly it is pretty rough and really no beach there. We got in the boat everyday and took a quick trip to Tahiti Beach to swim.

We stayed in the Villa San Paulo cottage next to the main house. It was clean and the grounds were nicely kept. I've stayed in nicer homes on elbow, but, as I recall the price was right, and a dock behind the house was a prerequisite for me. Great sunsets and monster mosquitoes at dusk in the summer. The dock is exposed to a SW or west wind. Nice central location between Hopetown and White Sound (Abaco Inn and Sea Spray Marina). We snorkeled around the rocks and dock.... no beach... about a 4' diameter man-o-ray in residence under the dock. Boat and golf cart a must.

Dock is a prerequesite for us as well....thank you for the info...with the boat and the cart we can get to the beaches easy and quick...we stayed in Hopetown Harbour one night last year on our boat and ate at the Abaco Inn....we like the central location and the people of Elbow Cay....we have booked the house and really appreciate the help from the Owners ...they have been extremely helpful.

Well....we have our boat confirmed from Island Marine.... 23 Albury ...hope that the weather is ok to get out Miami cuz we are ready...heard it was a bit windy lately on the islands....we are meeting several friends and looking forward to our 2 nd trip to the Abacos...1 st trip by cruising boat last year.....Frank and Mary at Ekali have been great and very helpful...will folllow up on our trip soon!!Arriving Saturday afternoon...staying all week...can't wait!!

We are planning to rent this house in July 2006 and wondering if there is a breeze on this side of the island or will we be miserable???

I wish our experience at Ekali was more like the ones posted previously! Since it may indeed be an individual one I'd rather not post it on the board, but if you want to e-mail me privately I can go into greater detail. This is was our 5th trip to the Abacos, and I rather doubt we would ever stay at Ekali again-in fact next year we are booked at Black Tip Cove in Guana.

Our stay in June was ok...unfortunately Frank and Mary were not there due to Frank being hospitalized stateside....the A/C in the mainhouse was not up to par but managed to keep us cool enough...the dock was great...the construction going on the property was not very pleasant...the water pressure was very bad....i am sure that the owner's being absent had a lot to do with it...i must say that we would not book this property again....

We don't recommend Ekali Estates ...it has construction ongoing and the homes need TLC......maybe in the future if they can get the place back in order.
