My family and I may be in a position to take a well deserved (if I may say so myself) extended hiatus in Guana Cay. Maybe as much as a year. Does anyone know if there are any Colleges or Universities anywhere in Abaco if I was interested in taking a class or two while there?

What I meant to ask is whether or not there are places that allow non Bahamians to take classes.

but there are many many opportunities to volunteer... and you will probably learn more and be more personally fulfilled than any college course you could take... I suggest the Every Child Counts School in Marsh Harbour for very organized and purposeful volunteer work with special needs students that attend the school from all over Abaco and the Cays... PM me if you need more info. and enjoy your special time in Abaco!

Friends of the Enviroment could also be a place to go and help out. They teach kids about saving endangered wildlife and areas around the Abaco.

I believe College of the Bahamas and Nova-Southeastern have extension courses available in Marsh Harbour but the offerings are very limited. There may be others but I am unable to name them right now. I would suggest enrolling in a University / College with an extensive online catalogue. Florida State College at Jacksonville offers many varied subjects, both credit and a less expensive personal enrichment set.

Thanks everyone. I love the volunteer idea. Especially with special needs kids and the environment. Thanks. I hope the opportunity does come to fruition. Probably not for six more months or so though.
