We will be traveling to Guana in a little over a week and i was wondering if anyone has had any trouble with sea lice so far this year? I hear about people having trouble a few years ago when we were there before, but did not have a problem personaly. Thanks for any information.

Safesea might help. You can buy it online or google and see where it is sold. It is a jellyfish repellent.

Just got back from Guana and I did get a case of sea lice. Wasn't sure at first.......we thought it was sun poisoning but when I realized it was near the rubber on the inside of my bathing suit we quickly realized what it was. I have to say, it wasn't as bad as I have heard but it did itch and it doesn't look very attractive. I was told to put Benadryl lotion on it and it took about 7 days but it's pretty much gone. I had spent the whole day in my bathing suit and had a thick rubber in the halter top of my bathing suit, I hear they like that.

Keep a gallon of vinegar handy on the boat or in the house. Pour it liberally on affected areas. You can use vinegar for sea lice (jellyfish larvae), jellyfish, or fire coral. If it's really bad, you can take an antihistimine (like benadryl). You can also use a topical antahistamine. Not trying to be gross, but you can use urine as well - there is always some of that available. Don't itch it, you'll just damage your skin. Also, swim naked if you dare (and you are good looking) - for some reason the sea lice want to get between you and your swim suit. Everyone is afffected differently with these sorts of things. Sea lice are part of the Abaco experience - don't worry about it. For most of us, it's much less painful than touching nettles or mosquito or no-see'em bites.
