View Full Version : Wooooo Hoooooo!
We've got a quickie countdown! 5 Sleeps and a Bag Drag (and 1 loooong drive)
We are flying from FLL on Calypso (8:30 am flight) & (hopefully) catching the 10:30 ferry to Guana where we will be staying at L'il Gecko. This is our first time staying on Guana and I can't wait! Jim & Kathy have already been so helpful in our planning of this last minute trip. (Y'all have been emailing my husband, he forwards them to me, and I pore over them dreaming my day away!)
I've been looking at weather - but any last minute forecasts? Wind? Rain? Cold Fronts in the forecast? I'm not really concerned - like they say - a bad day in Abaco beats a good day at work any time!!! But, I'm a cold weather wimp, and I'll need to pack a sweater!
I cannot possibly tell you how excited I am. I'm like a 5 year old trying to stay up to catch a peek at Santa Claus! I really shouldn't try to work this week - it's hopeless...:D
Any one else going to be around next week????

Glad to hear you are staying at Lil Gecko. We stayed there last Aug and enjoyed every minute of it. The views from the crow's nest are awesome both sunrise and sunset. If you like to snorkel you won't be diappointed in the wonderful reefs right off the beach. Don't forget to check out the fishing pier down from the cottage on the Sea of Abaco side. We were very successful both seeing and catching fish. Needless to say you will have a ball at Nipper's and Easy's not to mention the Bluewater Grill and Guana Seaside. Have a ball. I'm sure you will hate to leave when the time comes.
As of right now, Sunset Bar and Grill is closed. Easy mentioned that he might be open for Potluck on Wednesday but I haven't heard for sure if that will happen.

Its very windy, gusts in the 30's. I wore sweats all day yesterday and looks like I'll be wearing them again today. Check out this Accuweather forecast.

Pat,
Thanks for the heads up on Sunset and the weather. I hate to hear that Easy will be closed, I was really looking forward to checking it out. Of course I understand - it's off season here, too and a lot of our local spots are closed right now. Please let me know about the potluck - that sounds great! If it is happening, what are the details?
I can't wait! - I hope we get to meet you while we are there. I've been a long time lurker, and feel as if I almost know you already! It would be great to put a real face behind all the wonderful pictures you've posted!
Thanks again!
Beth Ann
Does any one know the weight limit for Calypso?? I know most airlines are 40# - some are 70#. I assume it is $.75 each # over?
I waiting until the last minute to pack, so I don't think about it too hard and pack too much! Looks like weather's going to get the best of me, though - I'm going to need some warm layers!! (I might need 3/4 the clothes, instead of 1/2!)
Thanks!

Easy announced on the Cruisers Net this morning that they will be open for the Wednesday night Potluck dinner. Just bring as much as you will eat to share with others. They usually start eating around 6:00 pm.

I've already made & frozen one of my favorite casseroles (made with fresh Murrells Inlet shrimp, of course!) to bring along. Wednesday night sounds like the perfect time to thaw it out and take to share.
Thanks for the info!

Claypso Air is 40 lbs. per person. Good luck!
We sure are looking forward to staying at Lil Gecko - thanks for all your help and info! I haven't even started packing yet - so I'll start the mantra now..."keep it light! keep it light!"
Thanks again!

Hey guys, if you get up with Troy at Dive Guana, he can set you up if he has anything available. Tell him Jim sent you and where you are staying.
Pack light and tight and have a great time in the Abacos.
Be sure to stop by the FIG TREE and say hello; give Milo a hug (watch out) and most of all - RELAX! Eat some pig at Nippers, have some Grupper fingers at Guana Seaside, a treat at Blue Water Grill and a Guana Graber at Easys. I wish I were there TOOOOOOOOO!
