Vintage Props & Jets certainly isn't the cheapest but based on feedback on this board, it seems like they're they best all-around. However, we tried to book with them for our upcoming trip and couldn't get anything past 8 am or so. Too early for fun! So, we're booked on Continental (I think) at a low price, purchased through Orbitz.

Over the years I have flown every major and charter air service there is servicing MHH.The major providers are naturally more punctual and more professional,"except Bahamasair on occasion".The charter outfits are usually more prone to tardiness, due to the necessity to fill the flight, therefore it may leave or arrive late if not fully booked.I can honestly say I have met some pretty interesting pilots on the charters, and never had a bad experience, but I do like small aircraft. Vintage is slowly losing its charm...Already the most expensive, VPJ has now eliminated "open" returns on RT tickets, meaning you must specify a return flight when you book the trip. If later you want to change anything, they charge $50 per ticket, just like the big guys.

I just gotta pipe up with a big recco for Yellow Air Taxi--From FtL they have been wonderful for us! (and we have made several trips here lately since Christmas!) Can't say enough for that crew!

I would also highly recommend Yellow Air Taxi! We always fly the puddle jumpers and have had the best luck with them. The crew is great and we even left early from Fort Lauderdale during the Christmas Holiday!

I suppose the small charters are ok...for many years we flew on such on cessna 402's. They are ok, but luggage allowance is very limited. Continental flies out of West Palm and Fort Lauderdale and we've been using them since USAIR left us in the lurch. I find them punctual and safe, and I can bring my big suitcase full of stuff for our house.

I've had great luck with Bahamasair out of West Palm Beach. Good prices, on time , direct flight, and they don't impose any excess weight charges on my dive gear. Also, Air Tran just had a $69 one-way fare from Atlanta to West Palm.

Have only had one experience with Continental. Left promptly out of Ft. Lauderdale, but suitcase did not make the transfer. We were staying in Treasure Cay, arriving Friday afternoon. When we woke up Saturday morning, my suitcase was sitting on the porch with a note attached. They also lost it on the return trip and had to bring it 60 miles to my house from O'Hare. Again, it arrived promptly the next morning. We're booked on Continental again this March, so I think I'm going to just bring a carryon. I packed too much the first time anyway!

Vintage Props & Jets is the only airline I will fly. Yes, I have paid a change fee or two but they have been SO accomodating. I understand that they have lost money on those seats that I had to give up at the last minute. Don't forget Vintage may not be offering open tickets anymore but at least you can still book one ways (unlike most other airlines).
Highly recommended and they fly out of Daytona and Jacksonville. Customs is easy and the flights are on time.

Got a flyer yesterday from Florida Coastal (FCA) good airline! They have a frequent flyer E Pass saver that allows for 10 one ways for $99.00 bucks.

Hi there- we rented Key Lime Cottage from March 5-12 and we are flying Delta from Norfolk, Va to Ft Lauderdale on Friday the 4th and I got tickets on Florida Coastal Airways from Florida to Marsh Harbour for $476.00 = that's round trip for two people. This price was better than Expedia's price on the same flight/airline. The phone number is 1-954-359-5555 or you can book on line. The flight times with Coastal worked good for us because we have to take a ferry over to Great Guana Cay---. We are both looking forward to the concert with Barefoot Man! Becky
Why are discussions about US Airways being deleted or locked? I found it very helpful about 4 yrs ago when unbeknownst to me, they had canceled their direct flight out of Orlando. If it had not been for this board, I would not have known until a day or two before my departure that the flight had been cancelled (and it would have been unlikely that at that late time we could have found another acceptable flight). Thanks to this board, we were alerted in time to get alternate arrangements made.

i think that we have a terribly impatient new moderator, because interesting discussions are being terminated pretty arbitrarily lately.
