There are no liquor stores open on Sunday, however if you really need some you might be able to buy it from a bar, but be prepared to pay handsomely.
Also to all followers it is a great misconception about duty free. In the late 80's the government, pressured by the merchants and competition from some of the southern islands such as the BVI's, did away with duty on spirits only. However not to loose revenue they increased the stamp tax on all sizes except liter size. Thus the term duty free, not stamp tax free though. So you will find that spirits will be cheaper than home, but wine and beer not.
As many may know years back a 40oz used to be the best buy but now it is the other way around.

Suppose you do bring wine into Bahamas (Marsh Harbour)? I know you get 1 liter for zero duty/tax per person but what is the duty/tax on amounts beyond 1 liter?
I think I saw 35% somewhere. If that's the situation, sounds like what you save at home is eaten on arrival? Your thoughts?

I don't think you can win in this situation if you properly declare alcoholic beverages that you bring into the country. Of course, there will be a lot of discretion by the customs officer as to what to charge duty on.
If you come by boat you can bring beer, wine, and liquor as ships stores. Technically it should be an ammount that you and your crew and guests could reasonably consume during your stay, however my personal experience is that unless you have the cockpit full of booze, it's not a problem.
We all just have to live with the fact that beer and wine are expensive in the Bahamas. Drink Rum!
Spankys the locals liquor store right when you pull in off the main road, on the outskirts of TC, that is your best bet, if they are hanging out they are open later than the one in town on Saturday afternoon.

Maybe we can find a patch of mint growing somewhere and live off
Mojitos or Cuba Libras all week..
