You serious boaters have such intriguing tales of cay-to-cay exploring., and you make it sound very easy. I haven't found an online map yet that truly indicates the small craft distance/time from one spot to another. My husband and I want to make the most of a four-day visit to Elbow. What do you recommend for afternoon cruising, lunch stops, snorkel stops, get-to-know the commercial district stops? Thanks to anyone with an opinion. :)

Definitely order the Dodge Cruising Guide (http://www.wspress.com/books.htm ). Elbow offers an excellent central location to explore the other cays. If you're ambitious you could go north to visit Baker's Bay off Great Guana or south to Little Harbour and Pete's Pub. Stop at Sandy Cay on the way there. Don't suffer from the 'grass is greener syndrome'-Hopetown on Elbow is probably one of the more picturesque harbors in the world with Tahiti Beach and Tilloo Bank nearby. Man-O-War would make a great lunch stop.

I caution you against trying to do too much in four days. One of our most enjoyable Abaco experiences is reading on the porch while looking out over Tilloo Cut to the sound of palm fronds in the breeze.

Thanks for the input. I had already checked out Dr. Ralph's site and found a used copy of one of the cruising guides at Amazon (can't remember which one now -- it was my second choice, as the link to my first choice didn't work). Hope it was the Dodge guide and if it wasn't, then I'll try that one, too. We are NOT planning to be ambitious. Just not enough time. But we're visiting because we're seriously considering buying a share of one of the cottages on Elbow, so we do want to get a good idea of the territory. Thanks so much.
