hi everyone!
idgi and i trying to get back down to the bahamas monday 4/6/09. but i forgot about her doggie permit. So i have faxed the information into the ministry of agriculture, but have not gotten a response. plus they want $15 before they send the permit. bottom line is that i cannot get them $15 from the US by monday. could someone please go to marsh harbor or ask someone in marsh harbor to stop by the department of agriculture and marine office and give them the money and idgi's application? i am sending the application as an attachment and at the bottom of this posting. and of course, i will reimburse the "superman" for their help.;)

my plans are to fly out of denver monday morning at the buttcrack of dawn. I get into fort lauderdale and head toward Riviera Beach where i catch the freight boat, Legend across. It leaves monday night 4/6/09 at 5 PM.

The permit could be faxed to them at:
Attention Hubert Bethel and/or Captain of the Legend
PET PERMIT FOR PASSENGER Betty Bowles, Monday April 6 2009
FAX 561-844-8664
EMAIL PBSSH@bellsouth.net

I will let him know to be on a look out for the permit.

Otherwise, if somone plans to be at New Plymouth on Tuesday morning when the freight boat comes in, you could just hand me the permit.
Can anyone think of any other options?

Please send email "reply to all" so that if you can help, others will not be duplicating your effort.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for any help you can provide. Hope to see everyone soon.
thanks,

Note: this application has already been faxed in. they just need $15 payment to send me a fax of the permit or for someone to pick up the actual permit for me.

If someone does not respond, can't you just charge the $15 by phone?

i wish it were that simple. i got a number for the Abacos contact, anthony gibson, from the nassau ministry of agriculture. I reached it once, but he was on another line. Since then, when i call (from the states) it just rings and rings then goes busy. so i will keep trying.

we always fedex the app with a money order to nassau and ask them to fax the permit - altho i recently read that customs will no longer take the faxed permit - i have also heard of a women at the dept in marsh who will have the permit ready when you fly in - have a taxi driver pick up the permit and come meet you at customs - sorry i don't remember the woman's name, but search the threads for permit questions - it was with the last 2 months - good luck

i finally got through to the department of agriculture at marsh harbor and talked to the guy in charge, anthony gibson. i faxed him all the information and he said he would take care of it. but he also said he would email me back and let me know how he would take care of it. he hasn't. so i am left hanging without any clue as to how/if/or when it will be cleared up.

the money for the permit has to go to the guy in marsh harbour. is there NO one in Marsh Harbour who reads this forum and step up to bat for idgi and me???????

We have flown in before without a permit because it didn't get to us in time. They made me and Stanley (the killer bichon) wait at the airport while Jeff went to the customs at the port to get the permit. Since you'l be at the port already you're a step ahead, unless they won't let you on the boat without the permit:(.
