Does anyone know if they accept credit cards at grocery stores in Marsh Harbour and Treasure Cay?

But don't forget you will be charged a fee by the card company for using the card in a foreign country. They call it a charge made to cover their costs of conversion to USD. As always cash rules.

Some smaller stores as well as other businesses will tack on a fee to your bill to cover their costs in accepting the card and that fee is usually higher than the percent they pay to the card company.
I use my US Visa debit card everywhere with no problem.

To avoid that charge, when traveling abroad I carry my Capitol One Card ... no conversion fees. But ah yes some shops will tack on their 3% +/-. Rich's Rentals banged me for this on a weekly rental. I was not amused. I will say it was on the contract and should have read the fine print. Shame on me.

The aggravating part is that if you are in business in the States and accept Master and Visa cards they give you dire warnings about ever adding a surcharge to cover their charges. They say they will take away your machine and close the account. They do encourage you to give a discount for cash if you wish. Nice of them. I assume this rule does not apply to the Bahamas:rolleyes:
