I must type username & password each time I try to log on (I check board twice a day). I've sent several mails to administrator & pm's to moderators with no response. Can you fix this? If there are multiple usernames, please delte all but gazeboman with latest password--Thanks

The same for me.

You did not get a response from me, because I did not receive a PM. If I did, I would have told you that I must sign in, also.
Do you have multiple user names? I can delete them if you PM them to me.

I had a problem a long time ago, there may be other user names/passwords associated with my email address, but I don't remember them & I can't access them from my end. The reason I asked about having to sign in with password every time is that with other boards using the same software/format "remembers you"

Same here. There is only one other message board that I visit that does not remember me. We just cannot figure what the problem is here, or on the other board.
I can do a check using your email. Would all your user names have the same email?
You might be on to something that might solve your problem. Obviously, I have more than one user name here, and will continue to do so. But I can certainly attempt to remove your other names. It just might do the trick for you.

Hi Gazeboman, I know this has been an ongoing problem here and it probably has to do with your ISP. Do you have anywhere you can try logging in from that would have a different ISP, work or the library maybe? I'm not sure if it will help, but at least it would be a start. I don't think it has to do with your browser because I can log on fine from Firefox IE and Safari and from many different locations. Maybe others who have the problem can do some research to see if there is a pattern.
Hope it gets solved for those who have to deal with it, as it's often the small things that can be most annoying!

Yes, my wife used to log on here but can't remember her username. All usernames will have the same email address. Thanks for your help--Ron

I had the same problem when I was at our place in CO (where my internet is slower getting there than spring). I would sign in but any time I tried to post it would make me sign in again and it usually didn't work. Tried to PM but couldn't unless I was signed in. It's been better since I've been down here.

It's been stated above that it's here, not everyone's ISP. It happens to me, seems to happen to everyone, but maybe not you.

Sorry billmc, I guess I did assume it only affected a few(not that it is any less annoying to those few). If it is many and diverse ISPs, it is most likely a bug built into this copy of vBulletin. If it's annoying enough some people might not come back as often. I'm curious how many out there have this problem? This should be something that is worth tracking down if it affects a lot of Board Members & potential Board Members.
Susan
I'm curious if it is a pc vs mac thing? Most of the time I use a pc. A family member has a mac. When I visit them, the mac remembers me from months ago.

Certainly is annoying, It definately affects my usage. It is likely a bug in abm's copy of the software. I use a pc. A fix would be appreciated.

Have you tried a different search engine/browser? I sometimes had trouble with IE, but none with Mozilla Firefox or Safari. I use an iMac, but the rest of the family uses the PC, and have stopped using IE in favor of Firefox. Far greater built-in security and firewalls too. Pop-ups all but ended.

Yes, with same results. Since the other abaco board uses the same software and I don't have that problem there it is likely a glitch in abm's software.

Not necessarily. I am on a Mac, and this Message Board hasn't remembered me since, maybe Christmas? I figured a setting had been switched.
And it is a pain to keep having to log in every time, despite clicking the "remember me." So sometimes I will just read and not post.

I'm not a real computer guru but let me make a couple of suggestions. I don't know how the board recognizes you but I suspect that it uses a cookie on your web browser. I'd switch to Mozilla Firefox for a browser. It is very good and has good security. You can get it for free here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
Opera is another good browser. You can get it here: http://www.opera.com/ I use it occasionally and it has a pretty straightforward way to set cookies.
If you have Firefox, check your history and cookies settings. Click on tools > Options > Privacy. Make sure that you accept cookies and third party cookies cookies and that you keep them until they expire. If you have checked the box to clear private data when you exit Firefox (I have this set) then you need to check the settings to be sure that you haven't set it to clear cookies.
I don't normally use Internet Explorer and I just took a look at my copy of it and can't quite figure it out.
I hope that this helps a little

I've been using Firefox, but have tried Safari as well. I have to log in each time using either browser. As with PattyRudi, prior to Christmas I did not have to log in each time.
Thanks to all of you for the feedback. The message board was upgraded in November. This upgrade was required by the server, and may be the cause of your log-in problem. Around Christmas the message board installed a program to end the bogus registrations, which averaged 100 per day! This may also be the cause of your log-in problem. We will continue to investigate and see if we can correct the remember me, but if it is related to the program that ended the bogus registrations -- well -- I'm sorry. You may have to live with spending 5 - 10 seconds of your valuable time to sign in. It took nearly 20 minutes of my valuable time, every morning, to remove those pesky bogus registrations.

Thanks for checking into it, 007.
I've got the cookies being accepted from any site I navigate to - and there are NO cookies for this Board. Maybe that is a clue.
