Im coming in saturday by boat from florida and im planning to go straight through to treasure cay. By the time i get there saturday night, im pretty sure all the customs offices will be closed... Is it ok to drive to the airport sunday morning to clear or do i need to call them and have them come out to the boat? I usually clear in west end but really dont want to be delayed too long since the weather is supposed to turn saturday night...

Think about stopping at Spanish Cay. There is usually someone there and it is not out of the way. Give them a call as you approach and its over and done and you are legal.

Customs phone # at GTC 242.365.4077
Main MH # 242.367.2524
The new 2009 "Cruising Guide to The Abacos" by Steve Dodge has a very helpful "bluepages" section now in the telephone directory. (Bluepages here indicate Government offices)

For years, we went to GTC to clear, but since clearing at Spanglish Cay three years ago, that is the only we clear. They are so very nice there and they make it very easy. Call ahead and make sure the Customs Agent is on the island. If you get there very late in the day, you can just get a slip and chill out till she opens up the next morning. Enjoy your stay in the Abacos........heaven on earth!!!:D

Cool Beans, Did you cotch anyting mon?
Since there is a thread going on clearing Customs at Spanish, does anyone know if the airport is open in January? And what are the landing fees and additional Customs charges? I heard the fees were very high that is why pilots did not go to Spanish.
