Haven't done much exploring in Abaco, will be arriving soon and will be renting a car. Are there pink beaches in Abaco? Which beach has good 'shelling?' and if we go to only one of the Cays or nearby islands...which
one should we choose?
Also what restaurants are open?
I apologize, if I'm asking too many questions!

First of all, where are you staying? That will help direct the many suggestions that will be flooding in!!!

TC is a must but for shells you want to go to Cherokee and make sure it is low tide. Some great shells. I have never been but I have others tell of going by boat to a cay for great shells. I am not sure the name of it. Hopefully, someone will come on and tell you. Need to visit Pete's Pub for lunch. Drive through Bahama Palm Shores (as far as we have gotten) TC is a beautiful spot in Abaco and very enjoyable. Lunch at Coco Beach Bar is very enjoyable. Have a wonderful time and please do a report and pics.

Angie may be describing the Spoil Bank, an area of dredged material off the north end of Guana Cay, which has become stable & vegetated. You'll need a boat to get there, tho. Have you considered a snorkel trip with one of the dive shops?
You can't go wrong visiting any of the cays with regular ferry service. Since you've been to Hopetown, there's still Guana, Man O War, and Green Turtle.

How is Treasure Cay accessed, by car or boat?
Also do the local people welcome strangers or prefer to keep their distance. On some islands we have enjoyed eating at the out of the way, local-kind of places.

Treasure Cay really isn't a cay, you can drive there. It's quite a large resort, not exactly typical of Abaco, but the beach is a world famous stretch that must be seen to be appreciated. The CoCo Beach Bar and Restaurant is right there. Abaco is also famous for the friendliness of the locals. It's one of the reasons so many return again and again. You will feel most welcome, so don't be shy about chatting with anyone at all!

When we first started going to TC, we absolutely loved it. After several visits, we liked mainly being friendly with the locals, they are the best. Some of the second home owners are snobby, some aren't! All said, TC is a wonderful place and has everything you want. As Hazie said unless you are staying on a different cay, you would drive there. We are trying different cays this year. Just dealing with some on the internet, they appear to be such sincere people.

That's Turtle Rock, a private cay owned by my cousin and a friend's family. It's north of MH and between Bahama Coral Isle and Leisure Lee. The shoreline along there is collectively reffered to as Turtle Rocks, and there are numerous lovely small beaches that can be accessed by boat, as most of the roads are actually private drives.
