and anyone remind me of the story about those "creatures" that come out at night on lubbers ... what were they called, etc.? thanks

They're called yahoes (YAY-hoes). I've heard two legends:

1) They're weird little leperchaunlike creatures who live in the bush and eat green bananas

and

2) They're the ghosts of pirates slaughtered in Tilloo cut by the British Navy back in the 17th Century. The bodies washed up on Lubbers and they've haunted it ever since.

In either case, they say that Yahoes have their feet put on backwards so when you see footprints in the sand, if you run away from where you think they're going, you're actually catching up to them...

Speaking of Lubbers lore, does anyone know the story of the old hermit that used to live in the cave behind the old Yahoes bar?

They've got the legend of "Cracker" there. I think thats what you're talking about.
