Hola
My wife & I, along with our 1-yr. old son, will be staying on Elbow Cay for a week in early February. We would appreciate any suggestions on things to do & places to visit, both as daytime activities and in the evening (we may get a sitter for a night or two).
Many thanks,
chris

My wife and I have stayed in Elbow Cay three times and love it! It's by far our favorite in Abaco. Hopetown Harbour Lodge has a great beach and a nice pool area (and a great restaurant). Dining is also great in the White Sound area at the Abaco Inn and SeaSpray. Call them on Channel 16 to make reservations and they'll pick you up in a van or car. Captain Jack's is awesome with great specials every night (except Sunday). Their prices are lower than everyone elses in general as well.
If you're into diving Froggies is located in Elbow Cay and if you have a boat, you can snorkel, fish, visit other islands, etc. You can also rent a golf cart and explore the island....
When we were there in November we got good wireless internet reception righ across from Captain Jack's. We never did figure out how to use our cell phones.
Have fun!

You will enjoy walking up the 101 steps of the historic Hope Town Lighthouse, going to the Wyannie Malone Musuem in the settlement proper. Just walking the settlement with your little guy in your backpack looking at the sights. Have lunch poolside at Hope Town Harbour Lodge and dunk in the pool with the baby. Snorkel the reef just offshore from the Lodge. Beautiful beach there too. Captain Jacks and Harbour's Edge both great spots for lunch in town. Walk to Vernon's Bakery and Store for his 7 grain fresh bread. Walk a little further and sit a spell on the adirondack chair built for two at the end of the road and watch all the boats coming in and out of the famous Hope Town Harbour. Abaco Inn for sunset cocktails in their open air bar - bring the baby. Ask your caretaker about a sitter and go to Rudy's Place (it is inland, in the middle of the island and you need reservations and order the duck or the stuffed lobster ahead of time as they run out and they are delicious). It is sort of a locals place and the service and atmosphere is very old fashioned and very nice. Rent a boat even for just a day and go to Lubber's Quarters to Cracker P's for lunch. All fresh ingrediants, and nothing fried, only grilled. they make a ton of their own hot sauces and their beers are ice cold and their Bloody Mary's to die for. Very laid back place and unbelievable views, friendly folks, lots of stuff in the place to look at - locals stuff. Great locals gift store too. Ebb Tide GIft Shop back in the Hope Town settlement behind the Post Office for all things local too. Know how to use the VHF radio in order to communicate with the folks who run the businesses. Mostly just hang. Bring lots of books and some layers of cloths. Sometimes there will be a chill-snap and you'll be wanting your sweat shirt or polarfleece stuff. Especially for the baby. Hope your cottage has a hammock for afternoon naps - everyday! Have a great time.
