Hope Town Fire Rescue has been given a "new" fire truck which will be stationed (and hopefully never used) around the middle and south end of Elbow Cay.

The problem is now, how to get it here ?

The truck is presently located just off I-40 near Warsaw, NC.
Expert opinion suggests that it should not be driven all the way to Florida, but should be transported on a low-boy truck.

Here are the details :-

Length 24 feet 9 inches Width 8 feet 1 inch
Height 9 feet 6 inches
Weight empty 27,500 pounds
Gas engine in truck

Truck needs to be transported to Riviera Beach FL.

Not looking for a freebie here (we know gas is expensive for such a trip) but we just don't have the contacts in the US to arrange such a transport job.

Can any of the Board Members help ?

Thanks

You might want to contact C.H. Robinson, Flatbed Division - a trucking company in North Carolina. If you explain your request, they may give you a special price for transportation. Good luck! www.chrobinson.com/flatbed (http://www.chrobinson.com/flatbed)

This is Joe, and I'am here in Beaufort SC, about 300 miles south of Warsaw.

If I can help, you can contact me at marina@islc.net.
If you need someone to talk to who knows me contact Patty Toler, or BOO at the jib room.

I live about 20 miles from Warsaw, NC. I own a company that manufactures propane delivery trucks. We have to arrange shipment of these units from time to time so I am familar with several trucking companies that will deliver vehicles of this weight and size. I also have in my employ three volunteer firemen, one who is chief of local unit. If we can offer any assistance in helping to arrange shipment for you and or inspect the unit, please e-mail me at captim@mindspring.com or tim@apachelptrucks.com (website to confirm is www.apachelptrucks.com)
