After several years of not being able to visit our favorite place; we are finally working on a June, 09 trip to the Abacos. We desire to stay at GTC and have a few questions that I'm hoping some of you can help with.
There will be 3-4 families in our party.
In our past trips, renting a boat at GTC came with restrictions that did not allow us to make trips to and past Guana Cay. We enjoy boating to Guana and on down to Little Harbor, so the restriction presented a problem for us. To fix this problem; some of us would make the crossing so as to have a boat for going anywhere, while the rest of the group would fly over. Ideally we would rent a boat(s) that allows travel anywhere in the Abacos. Is this option now available? If so; does anyone offer this on GTC?
Thanks in advance!
You probably should check directly with the rental agencies, but it is my understanding that you can take rental boats from GTC to Guana and beyond, but you will be out of the rental agencies' range for providing assistance; i.e., if the boat breaks down in Man o'War, it will be on your nickel to get it back to GTC. At least this is what Reef Rentals told us.

Islanddad, I understand your problem. It is great to have your own boat over there but it will cost prolly about 2k and 2 days to get it there and back (assuming it's a twin outboard) .......so only you can decide if it is worth it or not.
I've had great trips crossing and using my own boat and i've also had great trips flying over and renting a boat. Pros and cons are about equal for me. Good luck.

You can probably arrange for day trips with Dive Guana down to Hopetown and/or Little Harbour. That way you could take your rental to Guana and not have to worry about going out of the allowable rental boat range.

Thanks all for responding.
Spoke to Donnie. (Nice guy and a friend of a friend as well!) I sense that he's not too crazy about a trip to Little Harbor with his boats and can understand his reasoning. He suggested a trip down by car(s) which we've never done. The boat ride to & from LH is part of the fun - I just have to give it more thought.
We've never stayed in Hopetown, but enjoy it there when we do stop by. Any thoughts on staying at Hopetown vs GTC?

I have seen more people this year staying in a house for a week or so, then chartering a bigger boat, power cat or sail...and spending a few days Island hopping that way they can move their house/base with them
