Well, just as I dreaded, Continental called me today to inform that they are no longer flying out of PBI. Of course, we were booked with them. So w/ 3 weeks before we go, I need to re-book Aug. 16 FLL-TCB, and Aug. 22 TCB-PBI. There are 9 (4 adults/5 children) of us. Any ideas on which charter companies would be best out of FLL and PBI would be greatly appreciated.

Suggest you contact Cherokee Air 242-367-3450 They have a nine seater Caravan with lots of baggage capacity. Not sure what their charter rates are, but I do know that they offer excellent service. They have an FBO at Marsh Harbour with Customs and Immigration services, and they fly out of Galaxy in WPB. Hope this helps.

Just curious, but shouldn't Continental being doing something to get you on another flight? Maybe those days are gone and they can just cancel and leave you hanging.

If you are flexible you may want to look into options out of Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. Lots of good reviews about Yellow Air Taxi and Twin Air out of FLL. Bahamasair flies directly from PBI, but not every day of the week (and maybe only into MHH, not sure though). Good luck.

Continental cancelled and said "Good Luck" basically. Delta also changed my whole schedule coming from San Antonio. Thus the screwy FLL/PBI arrival and departure points. No wonder the air carriers are having such a tough time succeeding.

I was stranded by Vintage last week and I recommend contacting several charter companies and getting quotes and descriptions of aircraft and service from all of them. We used Baer Air and were pleased. I also contacted Sky Limo, Craig Air, Yellow Air Taxi.

Several years ago I used Air Flight out of Fort Lauderdale and I was pleased with them. Good luck.

You might also scout out scheduled service with Bahamasair, since I think they have a significant discount for kids.

Are you saying you actually lost money with Continental? I have never heard that before. They should be making accommodations some other way.....remember the squeaky wheel gets oiled!

Any chance of getting Delta to rebook your return flight out of of FLL? I think there may be more options out of FLL unless you can work something out with Bahamasair.

Another possibility would be to see if you can get Delta to change your flights into and out of Freeport, Grand Bahama then fly Regional Air from there to the Abacos.

I thought they were still flying to MHH out of PBI--if so, you can just take a 20 min cab ride from TC to MH and still use your tickets (maybe they will even pay for the taxi--its been known to happen!)

Yelow Air Taxi rescued my group of 8 last week when Continental cancelled. Yellow offered to fly out of either FLL or PBI. PBI cost a little extra. Suggest you call them direct at 954-321-0292 or 888-935-5694.

Just checked Continental's website. They still do PBI-MHH-PBI. Checked with my travel agent for our Dec 20 - Jan 3 trip from PWM-PBI-MHH-PBI-PWM. Still booked.

Continental has a history of cancelling flights at this time of year.

I didn't mean to imply that we lost our money w/ Continental. They are giving us a full refund.

Gallaxy Aviation out of Stuart treated us real good last year when weather turned bad for Gulf Stream crossing and we needed to get to the Abacos the next day or so. We made a call, they got ahold of a pilot and off we went the next morning. If you have enough people for a twin engine prop (7-9 people), you can charter, and decide when and where you want to be picked up. Last year it cost us about $400 each for 7 people at the last minute. It turned out to be a great experience and I would definately use them again. Hope this offers some help.
