We were told that the day after we left the Hope Town this year (Thursday - June 26th) was an election day and that no liquor was allowed to be sold till the polls close. I dont know if it was Abaco wide or jurisdictional.
I got to wondering. What about all the folks who might have headed to Nippers or other watering holes? Were they refused a drink? Cant imagine Johnny doing that?
Any clarification out there ???

Sandy, Last year during the national election there was no liquior severed until after the poles closed at 6 pm. This years local election was postponed so the liquior flowed all day.

We endured a long, rough ride down to Pete's Pub that day and were met with a nice cold.....Diet Coke....
The Hopetown elections were postponed, so we had lunch at Capt Jack's with cold Kalik & mudslides.

That's good news......
I just couldn't see it happening especially at Nippers.
That would be worse than, death without Heaven.

I always try to warn people several days in advance of this nationwide policy each election--seems to require planning in a lot of cases...

It is a national policy, one that I think the US should adopt. Who wants a drunk picking the person that is g\oing to run the country....I guess it is no worse than all the overmedicated persons that go and vote. Oh well, then we wonder how the country got like this.

I did go to nippers on election day...and was turned down for alcohol. Looks like they all go by the rules!;)

or at least Ohio has. On any electon day either primary or State and National no alcohol can be sold until the polls close at 7:00 p.m. This also includes private clubs or any establishment who is licensed by the State.

Just remember, this is not the US, this is the Bahamas, and you must abide by the law...No booze until 6 p.m. on election days. Nippers and everywhere else included.
We (U.S.) may not like it because we are on vacation, but it is always posted, and a proper previous planning prevents p*** poor performance.
Don't forget, if you are a visitor, you still must abide by the laws of the country that you are visiting....Besides, isn't it all about relaxing anyway?

That happened to me 2 years ago, I took a friend for his first visit to the Abacos, we rented a boat went to Nippers and were told no alcohol until evening. So we had lunch and enjoyed the view.

To Half-of-Half where you said
"Who wants a drunk picking the person that is going to run the country"
And likewise, a just out of high school eighteen year old is too young to vote. (Should be about 30 if you ask me) And not to mention a dozen other categories.
But that's a topic for another board for sure.

I agree with the age thing but I also feel they are too young to go to war too!!!

This is not the place for a political discussion.

These boys aren't too young for any of the above or 12 dozen other categories! We're proud of our son, PVT. Charles Rickey,III , just graduated from MP school, and our son-in-law, SGT. Justin Eller, combat veteran of Iraq. I'm sure either can hold their own in a debate of their maturity!
HOOAH!
