Internet Access

Dh and I are wondering if there is any internet access on Elbow Cay - only because we are hoping to NOT have to buy another memory card for our camera. If we could go somewhere and upload our pictures via internet, we could clear our card and start over. I know there is no way that the two cards we have will be enough. I'm a scrapbooker and take TONS of pictures, especially when we travel.

the best places are the Harbour's Edge and the Hope Town Coffee House. Both have internet available with a purchase.

When are you going to be in Elbow Cay? Maybe I can help?? I have a loptop and 5 gigs of compact flash cards.

The last 2 trips we picked up internet (spoty) in Hopw Town near the first public dock. It was free but not always available.

My husband purchased an allotted amount of time on the oii.net wireless network when we were there in February. We were in one of the rental houses in HopeTown called Summer Magic and could get a signal. The speed wasn't always the greatest, however I believe some of the rental houses have an extra wireless connection installed so the speed is faster. Also, we used the wireless connection at the Abaco Inn and had no trouble at all.

Thank you everyone. I should have mentioned, we won't have a laptop with us, so wireless won't help. We need an actual computer!

I guess we'll just add a memory card to our camera bag - or even a couple disposable cameras in case we run out of "room".

For those who visit and figure out a way to get "free" access to the internet: Nothing in life is free, and for those of us who subscribe and pay our fees, your intrusion degrades what is already a marginal service. THINKABOUTIT

Even with the use of computors available, it can be extremely slow at times forwarding photos. You could spend hours trying to send pics home . Easier to get extra cards. They don't take space and you are sure they will make it home. Have fun. Remember we are in slow mode down here.

Elise - the Hope Town Harbour Lodge has a computer that is available to use. I bring my laptop - so I can't tell you about costs.

We got a 1GB card for our camera a couple years ago. Solved the problem. It takes forever to unload it once we get home tho! It never hurts to have a spare card just in case anyway. More for a malfunction than space constraint.

Last summer, we were told Abaco Inn had computer/internet access, but when we got there there was internet access but only if you had a laptop with you!
