what restrictions does the rental boat company have in terms of the areas you can navigate?

Don't know Rainbow's specifics, but most likely you cannot go "outside" or through the cuts into the open ocean. Or you're on your own, emergency and insurance-wise. There are several places in the Sea of Abaco you can get some bottom structure to find hogfish, snapper, grunts, etc. Try the coral heads off the north end of Elbow (be VERY careful navigating in that area - watch the bottom), the collapsed concrete dock on the back side of Elbow just south of the White Sound entrance (you can snorkel and see nurse sharks resting there too sometimes), just off the wall on the inside of Tilloo Cut, around the little "islands" just inside and south of Tilloo Cut, cast into the outside of the rock jetty just south of the "Tilloo Castle", there's a little spoil area just outside and north of the channel outside of the small marina on the southeast end of Lubbers (a little structure, but be careful, you'll be in a high traffic area). DO NOT fish in Fowl Cay or Sandy Cay preserve! Depending on where you are staying, you could catch snapper right off your dock! Good luck! When in June will you be there and where are you staying? I'll be there with the family June 21-28.
