Boy, were we annoyed when we arrived at our house ‘Nowhere’ on December 29th. After a long days travel (14 hours +) I climbed on the roof to attach the VHF antenna and boom....

Someone has "borrowed" four BP Solar panels from our roof. Cut the wires, unscrewed the panels and they are gone. Last seen 2 August 2007 (unfortunately, no one noticed them missing until we arrived). The panels cannot be seen from the Sea of Abaco, and our house is out of the way, on the south end (beyond Orchid Bay) of Great Guana Cay. More details if you care, but for now….I’m spreading the word – somewhere in the Abaco’s these panels showed up someone’s roof.

What a shame! AND as proof that mostly this is an exception - we just got back from an hour at Nipper"s and absent-mindly left our camera "front and center" on the golf cart seat and there it was still waiting for us when we left!

Sadly - there are a few bad guys everywhere - but over-all, we still feel more secure personally and with our belongings here than most anywhere else we have been!

Based on your description of your property and the solar panels that are missing, this sounds suspiciously like an 'inside job'. Someone who knows you and when you are off island probably told someone else about the solar panels and that's how they went missing.

Unfortunately, they now know when you are gone and how easy it is to appropriate your stuff. It may not end here with the panels.

Who do you know that you can question about this?

Remote viewing video systems are available and fairly easy to set up. I know people who are able to 'see' their boats from many miles away via these set-ups. Might be worth checking into if you think this problem might continue.

Good luck.
