We are making our first trip over to the Abaco's in two weeks for my brother-in-law's leave from Iraq. I have heard that beer is not readily available and that when it is, it is quite expensive. While I want to support the local residents, I have heard of prices that are $50+ for a twelve pack, is this correct?
Thanks

Beer is more expensive than in the states. With that said, it's more like 45-50 a case...Kalick is the local beer......on the other hand some liquors are inexpensive...Bombay Blue Saphire gin is a steal !!! Thaks to your family member for their service for me.

While I enjoy a good beer now and then, I LOVE Bombay Sapphire. Thanks for the great news.

We purchased beer in Hopetown and paid 46 per case warm for Kalik add $2.00 for it cold. We were told that you can bring in 1 case per person, we will be doing that next year

You can find Kalik in Marsh Harbour for $35-40 a case (get the Gold!). Just ask the taxi driver.
We also brought a case with us of light stuff for breakfast ;-)

If you're staying on Elbow Cay from Jan 19th to 25th, I'll be happy to buy your brother-in-law as many beers as he can drink. And if you're not, thank him for his service.

I have been bringing atleast 4 18packs over for years.Customs has asked and I told them I brought over beer. They have never asked how much.If you can make the weight work,do it.The beer I bring over is for the house and the boat.
Right Gummy....If you want Kalik, bring it over. You can buy it in Florida for about $25/case. Why do they charge $45-$50 in the country of origin? Because they can....

There is a new Bahamian beer called SANDS...Not sure if its available in Abaco or how much per case.

Hi all and thanks to you who answered my earlier questions. I think from the preceeding conversation that I can guess the answer but. . . Would I be right to assume that I'm unlikely to find strong Belgian ales in Marsh Harbor or Hope Town to provision my charter in March?

Belgium Lambics?
Now, THAT would be worth the price of admission/customs!
We do love those cold Kalik Golds on Tilloo tho - the world is your oyster!

A couple of things.
You can't buy beer on Sunday unless it's at a resturant.
Best Beer prices are at the liquor store just out side of Marsh Harbor next to
Rainbow rentals.
I once had to buy all of the beer from a resturant when I arrived on Sunday.
Mucho bucks.:)
