We're planning a trip to the Abacos from Nova Scotia beginning Sept. /08 to hopefully arrive in the Bahamas Dec. /08. Our sailboat draws 5 1/2'. Thought it might be a good idea to reserve a slip at a marina for a month or so in Dec.-Jan. to have a "home base" for a while. Man 'o War marina looks good on paper...any comments or suggestions? How early should I put in for my reservation?
Thanks.

...and wouldn't say anything negative about any of them. Remember...if you have not retired from going to restaurants, and perhaps a tipple along with the food ,your choice is limited at MOW and nil on buying a drink. Marinas in Guana, Elbow and Marsh Harbour give you far more choices in that respect.

I doubt if you'll have any problem finding marina space in Dec.-Jan. as this is the off-season and rates have been reduced.

Although I have heard good things about Man-o-War Marina, MOW is a VERY quiet place and does not offer the same shopping, restaurant, and other land diversions that you'll find in Treasure Cay, Hopetown, or Marsh Harbour. Also, as you get to explore the Abacos, you'll find that there are just too many interesting and beautiful places to visit to want to spend a lot of time in any one place. Invest in a Dodge Guide if you haven't already done so.

Your 5 1/2' draft won't present any problems.

You'll love the Abacos!
