You will have no problem entering the Bahamas with personal medications however it is always a good idea to have a script from your doctor listing those medications (and their generic names). Medications should be carried in their original containers.

You stand much more chance of being questioned by US Border Protection staff on your return, than you do being asked questions by Bahamas Customs.

Please see the CBP website when it comes to bringing medication/prescription back into the US. There are some very clear and specific guidelines.
My recommendation is (based on some very close observation of a case at US CBP), that the person involved has this prescription in a container being labelled by the pharmacy/dispensing unit with all the necessary information including doctor's name. This prescription must be in the name of the passenger bringing backthis medication .
Otherwise a very intensive interview can be foreseen with several parts of the US Government.

My Father and Mother both carried all of thier medications with them as they traveled this summer. It is wise to carry a letter, or copy of the perscription to show that it is infact yours, especially if it is a narcotic. If it is something that may be needed during the flight, you may carry on if you have a Script and letter showing it is medically necessary. I am not sure about all medications, but I know that the Pharmacies will fill. I would still contact the Ministry of tourism, and make sure of what is needed

Interesting question.. I travel with alot of meds, pain meds, meds for migraine headache, 99% which are prescription and I have never had a problem either way. I even had a bottle of Nyquil for my MH friends and it was looked at by the officials at LGA and it was passed through, even though it was way over the limit for liquids.I carry on all my meds in my carry on bag. Some are in the original bottle and some are in the pill box. I don't have a letter from my MD's but I could obtain one. I have just never had a problem.
Hope I am not jinxing myself, we are leaving for NC tomorrow and in 2 weeks to MH.Has anyone else had a problem carrying meds back into the ...US?
