I got a call earlier from a friend who says she got a call from someone at the Island Veterinary Clinic in MH. They apparently have 12 Potcake puppies available for adoption. Anyone interested can call the clinic at 242-367-0062.

There are "only" about 7 pups at Dr. Bailey's. Two, maybe three are spoken for. The rest, plus some probably, will go to Atlanta with me to Royal Bahamian Potcake Rescue in +/- 3 weeks. They were plucked from a deep mud puddle and almost drowned at the Shell station Marsh Harbour when they were about 3 weeks, all bottle fed until very recently. Will send photos to RBPR, she will post them.

Hi Pat,

Thanks for the alert on the potcakes! We are ready to receive them here in Atlanta when they are healthier. They will still need homes, though, so anyone interested should please email me! We are trying to save as many puppies as we can, and meanwhile working on setting up a free spay/neuter clinic so we can control the overpopulation of potcakes (and potcats, too).

I will, of course, post pictures, but you can always check out our website for the latest puppies... www.potcake.org (http://www.potcake.org)

Is there an update on the potcake puppies that were available in early October? Are these in Marsh Harbor or Atlanta? Thanks

Check out our website for up-to-the-minute updates on the 'cakes! They're all in Atlanta.

Three potcake puppies have been adopted (Coconut Princess, Twinkle and Marina).

Still available are Sailor, Captain, Pittypat and Pollyanna!

The very young pups that were at the vet's in Marsh Harbour have all either been adopted or didn't make it. They were only about 2 weeks when rescued, and two, I believe expired due to one malady or another.

There are three in Casuarina Point being cared for by a very generous couple; they are ready for new homes now. But, I don't know when we will be able to get them up to Atlanta. The momma is also ready to be adopted - she's' due to be spayed when she is tamed enough. She's a real sweetie and has been a bush dog all her life, I think. She follows her "adotive" human around and actually will stand still now to be petted. With TLC and assurance that she won't ever be dumped again, she will make a wonderful companion for any one who knows and loves PC's.
