My neighbor, acting in hurricane panic, hacked the immature coconuts off their tree today. We grabbed some. Now I don't know what to do with the green coconuts. Some give off the sound of liquid when shaken. Some do not. Will the silent ones mature off the tree? Do I cut the blossom or stem end to pour out the coconut water? I just don't know how to attack these coconuts, and I sure don't want to waste them. Any advice is appreciated.
Sidney says to take the ones that make a sound and use a cutlass and hack off the blossom end or take a 3/8 drill and drill a hole in the darn thing! Then he says add vodka or rum according to your taste!

Gin and coconut water (you need to add milk too..condensed milk I think. Ask a Bahamian bartender!!!)

Good for your neighbor! Cleaning out those trees is smart thing (and normal maintenance around here) to do this time of year. I am afraid to drive my car under some of the trees hanging over the Eastern Shore Road!!

Now I know just what to do! I will tackle those things armed with a drill and a bottle of rum!

Cleaning the coconut is the easy part, getting it out of the husk is the hard part.
