My husband and I are excited to be heading back to the Abacos in 2 weeks for our 3rd visit in about 2 1/2 years ... this time bringing 4 friends for their first visit. Most of us are divers. We'll be cruising the cays, planning our first ever visit to cays farther north than Spanish. Does anyone know if there is a dive shop on Grand Cay? I've Googled, I've read the latest cruising guide, read blogs, etc. but still can't find any specific information. I've read the diving up in that area is great ... just can't find a shop. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome to the board LaDonna !
Not sure why the lack of response, but could be everyone's 'gone fishin'.
I'm sure if anyone has experience, or can point you in the right direction, they will.
A little patience may pay off!
Good diving.

I think Philip, who used to work at Walkers dive shop, may be running a small dive shop on Grand. I'd call Rosie's and ask them about it; it's such a small island they will know if anyone has a dive compressor, etc.

Thanks for the welcome, Iridium! I've been a "voyeur" on this forum for a long time, and have finally registered. There is so much information here that's been helpful in the (not so distant) past when we've been planning the last couple of trips. I can't imagine traveling without checking forums/blogs anymore. We have fallen in love with the Abacos, as have many, which has kept us coming back (and bringing first timers) and are huge supporters of preservation of these islands. At any rate, it has been difficult finding much information for the lesser populated cays north of Spanish (not that Spanish would be considered much populated!). Thanks again for your response, and I remain hopeful that I'll get some info about diving near Grand Cay.

Thanks, Carol ... I've actually heard about Rosie's not only on this forum, but also from a friend of a friend of a friend and so on, who cruises to Abacos from Florida and always stops at Rosie's. Didn't even think of calling Rosie's ... took all my brainpower to register on this site, google Grand Cay, read cruising guide, search forum, etc. I appreciate the input!! I felt mildly sad when I didn't have a stunningly comprehensive response within, oh - 12 minutes - of posting my comments ... pathetic, eh?

The Man You Need To Speak To Is Barry. He Runs The Dive Program Out Of Grand Cay. He Is Very Nice And I Have Known Him For 25+ Years. Rosie's Can Put You In Touch With Him. Just Google Rosie's Place On Grand. Have Fun

Barry Albury who used to run the Dive Shop at Walkers has his own dive shop now in Grand Cay as far as I know. I am good friends with his daughter and that's the last I heard from her.
