That must be a typo in the MHH to Hopetown daily schedule unless they don't want to see us in the daytime ??
thanks for the information Pat .... would you be able to find out how much the "punch card" is ... the one that the workers usually use ... we find this is a great use for us , especially as we are only there for 2 weeks
Does the 5:45 ferry (MHH - GGC) still have the minimum charge and if so what is it... and since there is a 6:30 leaving GGC, does that mean the ferry goes back to the Conch Inn dock?
Sorry, it was a typo, it should say AM!!!

The frequent traveler card for 5 round trips is $70.00- good for 2 weeks
The workers commuter card for 5 round trips is $50.00- good for 1 week
The 5:45 to Guana is now a regular run and the new 6:30 will also be a regular run at regular prices. Depending on the success of the new runs, they might do a late evening ferry for Guana Cay also. Cool!!!
Yes the 6:30 ferry goes back to the Conch Inn dock.
Also, all ferry's will be soon equipped to carry beverages on board to sell to the passengers.
I am taking all this info from The Dec. 1, 2004 Abaconian. I know some of you subscribe but it takes time to receive them so I decided to pass along the new schedules and fares to all who might be coming this way soon.
By the way, the 5:45 & 6:30 ferry is already running here on Guana Cay.

These are the new charter fares.
thanks Pat ... good to know for the travel budget :)
You know what, that actually isn't a typo!! It reads:
MH to Hopetown Daily
7:15 am/ 9:00am /10:30 am/12:15pm
2:00pm/3:30pm/4:00pm/5:45pm/ and the new runs are 9:00PM and 10:45 PM
The ferry service added new times for folks who might like to go to Hopetown or MH for dinner, etc.
Sorry, it was a typo, it should say AM!!!

Looks like a pretty hefty price increase. If I remember right $15 was round trip now you only get one way. Charter from $70 to $90, 28% increase.

if anyone has bought fuel and insurance lately for a boat then you wouldnt think that the increase is that out of line the increases they are imposing are more than fair

Just some info, Abacoeae will now offer to shop for the cays if you dont want to pay for the ferry rates or hate comming to the big city. This is a new business and just wanted to get the word out, until Sinc can get my ad up on the site.
Thanks.
The following is from the Abaconian:
"The new Port Authority regulations now require all commercial operators to have a second licensed and certified crew member on board all boats effective January 3rd."
There were many reason's why there is to be an increase, fuel prices, insurance, dockage fees, training.

i was just re-reading this post, and am wondering about additional baggage etc .... does this apply to our groceries as well, or just luggage? wonder if anyone can comment on the changes, especially since dec and the holidays are now over .... should be there is just over 7 weeks

Ferry schedule can be found here
http://www.go-abacos.com/travel/fersch.html#anchor644106
To get to Green Turtle Cay from Treasure Cay International, take a taxi to the Green Turtle Ferry Dock from the airport [about 8 minutes to the dock ($6-$8 for two persons, depending on luggage)]. The Green Turtle Ferry will take 15-30 minutes depending on your destination [White Sound, Black Sound, New Plymouth Public Dock or elsewhere] and the number of passengers on board. Green Turtle is approximately 4 miles directly across The Sea of Abaco, and it's usually a pleasant and colorful ride. If asked, your ferry captain will radio ahead to your rental's manager-caretaker, or to your hotel manager to arrange transportation from the appropriate dock to your vacation accommodations. Ferry charters are also available starting at approximately $40 per trip.

Additional schedules are introduced during various parts of the year
[holidays, high-season, etc.]. The above weekly schedules have remained
unchanged for the past several years, but check schedules with your vacation
accomodation manager or call the ferry office if your timing is critical.

The Bluff House and The Green Turtle Club are two hotels/resorts on GTC (there may be more hotels but I just don't know them). Both are very nice or you can look at various houses/cottages for rentals. You can look on this board or other web sites for the contact information for both of the listed hotels or cottages/houses for rent.
