We flew from PBI to Marsh Harbor on June 30th. We took the Abaco Ferry to Hope Town. By the way, the Abaco Ferry is a great ride and offers a better rate. We saw rain nearly each day, but we also got some great beach time in each day. Flies seemed worse in July than our previous trips in June. My wife made it through 3 novels in a week. I wrote endless pages in my journal. The 4th was celebrated at the Sea Spray...The Islanders put on a wonderful show! We got in some snorkel time at Tahiti and managed to find a good bit of sea glass. I would certainly recommend the B'Haven house to anyone looking for a prime location (with a small pool in the back no less). Sun screen and cash money is all you need in Hope Town. Watch out for curly tails as you walk the streets and certainly keep a friendly eye out for our potcakes. We were able to catch the church service on Sunday with Vernon. Vernon, by the way, cooks up a mean loaf of bread. We ate at Sea Spray, Captain Jacks, On Da Beach, and Harbor's Edge. Great rum drinks and dad would suggest a Kalik.
Some of my favorite things to do in Abaco:
*Look up at the Hope Town sky on a crystal clear evening. The stars are endless.
*Take evening drives in the golf car...just for the fun of it.
*Bingo at Captain Jacks on Monday.
*Talk on the VHF.
*Walk the streets of Hope Town and talk to the locals.
*Snorkel off the coast near the Methodist church and HTHL.
*Take a walk to the
North end...so peaceful.
*Take a few jump shots on the basketball court near the Clifford Sawyer house.
*Watch a thunderstorm come rumbling in on the island.
*Sit in the kissing chairs and watch the lighthouse brighten up the evening sky.
*Stop at Munchie's for some fries and an ice cream cone.
I'm sure I've missed many details, but I prefer to keep them for myself.
