Can you drive a golf cart up to the Harbor Lodge? We have a handicaped person in our party and he can't climb all those steps.
Thanks.

I am sure that if you asked Tom ,the manager of the lodge, he would be more then happy to have the person driven around to the beach side where they can enter without stairs.

When I traveled to Abaco for the first time after becoming paraplegic, I already knew that Abaco was not for sissies from my many other visits over the past 15 years. I knew that my wheelchair would be worthless on Guana. I, also, knew that handicapped facilities would be nowhere near up to US standards. I may now be a cripple, but I'm still no sissy! I was prepared for the struggle. Hey, it's a struggle for us to just get out of bed in the morning. But if your travel companion is able to use a walker or cane, he's one of the lucky ones.
I was grateful how easy the good folks of Abaco made it for me. They know that the facilities are not in place for people with disabilities, and go the extra mile to ease our way. When we cleared at TC a wheelchair was brought to the plane. When we landed at MH, in a driving rain, a taxi was brought to the plane. When the ferry captain saw me lumbering along with my walker, he stabilized the ferry with a few extra ropes and knots, before assisting me down the ladder like a trained physical therapist.
If he packs his spirit of adventure, and let's the gracious hosts of Abaco know his needs, he'll be just fine!
Enjoy....PattyB

Just tell Tom of your needs and I am sure he will get you a pass to travel through the settlement gate with your cart.It is then just a quick right hand turn and a short ride to the upper level of the Lodge. Tony
people with disabilities can get a pass from the cart rental company to take a golf cart through town (including to the lodge), otherwise there is a hard and fast rule that no golf carts are allowed in town. getting to the lodge via the upper path is one thing, navigating the lodge is another. ther are steps throughout the facility. but like everyone says, we are all sure that tom will do everything in his power to make everyone feel at home.
