HiI noticed that your comment regarding the estimated distance from Hillsboro to Marsh Harbor was around eight or nine hours. From the sound of this you have made the trip a few times. Could you tell me specifically , the route she would take. Thanks for the info

Takes us from Miami to Marsh Harbor about 390 hours ..... with a stop at WE, GS, then a few days each at Allans-Pensacola, Spanish, Powell, Munjack, Greent Turtle, Guana, and finally MH.

Michael, you would either make your landfall at West End, possibly stopping at Old Bahama Bay to clear and/or fuel, and then enter the Bank via the Indian Cay Channel; or somewhere in the Freeport area, then through the Grand Lucayan Waterway.

From either option, you pass north of Mangrove Cay, then south of Great Sale, on around Little Abaco Island into the Sea of Abaco proper.

There are advantages, disadvantages, and variations on each route. Sounds like you might want to check out a copy of the new Dodge; go to http://www.wspress.com/ (http://www.wspress.com/) for the 2005 Cruising Guide.

I have an article on Traveling to Abaco in Your Boat; email me if you are interested.

Read "Attitude Adjustment" by Dr. Ralph in 2001. You can find it in the archives of the OLD board (not sure how that's done from here) or He may be persuaded to send it to you; I do have a copy on file, but you should get it from the source. It's a great read!

It is approximately 188 nautical miles (give or take a few) via Indian Cay channel from Hillsboro Inlet to Marsh Harbor. You can figure on 2 hours to clear and fuel at West End depending on the traffic. We made the trip last spring on my friends boat in 12 hours, from dock to dock. Normaly we take about 5 days to get to Marsh Harbour anchoring out along the way. With Dodge's book and a GPS it is piece of cake. A couple of words of advise, check and double the coordinates when you put them in your GPS, and don't forget basic navigation.
