My wife, daughter, and I will be spending our first Christmas in Abaco, fleeing Maine. We usually spend February and April school vacations on Elbow or Man-'O-War but this will be new. How is the offshore fishing? Does Nipper's have their pig roast, Cracker P's the full moon party? Looking for info.
Christmas is a great time to be here. No crazy shopping or constant bombardment to buy buy buy. Yes, Nippers is open and does a pig roast. Actually, its a busy week as most rental houses are booked solid and a lot of second home owners come down for the holiday. The fishing is great, it can get windy and choppy. Last year we went sailing on Christmas. :)

Christmas is one of the best times to be in the Bahamas. The Bahamians are mostly very religious and thusly celebrate Christmas enthusiastically. Also, the weather is awesome. Having just spent Thanksgiving on Elbow, I can tell it was fantastic. Almost everybody, except The Edge, are open. Great fun. Full moon will be during your vacation.

Every Christmas season one of the Marsh Harbour residents, Ross Pinder, puts out a large Christmas display. I had the joy several years of helping him set it up. If you are on Abaco around Christmas it is definetly something to see. He lives directly behind the Western Auto, on the road comming in from the Airport. You should be able to ask any local where to find it.
I agree with the others, Christmas is my favorite season to spend in Abaco. I would also suggest going to GTC for Junkanoo. What ever you do, the change from Maine will be more than worth the trip.

The Blue Bee Bar in New Plymouth is definitely in the Christmas spirit!

My family and I will be visiting Abaco for the first time and will be arriving in Marsh Harbour on Christmas. I've been looking at the threads trying to find out what may be open in Marsh Harbour on Christmas. Are there any restuarants that will be open on Christmas Day? Will grocery stores be open the day after Christmas? Thanks for any information.

At this point I am not sure about restaurant openings, altough Anglers should be open for brunch. As to grocery it is understood that Solomons will be open Sunday from 7.00am to 10.00am, closed Monday and Price Right wiil be open on Monday but closed Sunday. However this can change.
Now that's a picture we will be seeing in person very soon. Thanks for the post.

They celebrate Boxing Day in the Bahamas on Dec. 26 and no stores will be open. The 26th being a Sunday, perhaps it will be celebtrated on Monday. I'd bring plenty of peanut butter sandwiches along just in case

Thanks for the replies. We are packing a small cooler for the trip, just in case there are no stores open on Sunday or Monday. Happy Holidays to everyone!
