Sometimes when I am composing a thread, by the time I have completed writing and hit the "submit" button, I get logged out and must re-log on and everything I have written is lost. It usually happens when it takes me a little longer to compose my writing (distracted by something else going on) but it happened just now and I think I was only writing for a few minutes. So frustrating.

Yes! It is frustrating!

Try composing in your email. Then copy and paste in the reply window.

Yes it has. I *think* there is a setting the Administrator can change to lenghten the time before it happens. But if I've been writing a longer message, I'll highlight the text and copy before sending just in case.

... I'll highlight the text and copy before sending just in case.elcahun is right on. Highlight the text and right click to copy it periodically as you are composing a reply. Especially if you get up to do something else.

If I am doing a long post I usually compose it in Word and copy it over. Only disadvantage there is the spacing between lines is greater in Word so after I copy it I take out all the blank lines and put them back in.

The time out thing is to automatically sign Members out after a certain amount of inactivity. The software doesn't know you are still there keying (without hitting the enter which sends a message to the software), thinking or distracted. Just ensure you hit the enter key occasionally and periodically copy that text with the right click and keep on postinghttp://coconuttelegraph.net/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif.
