I'm picking up a friend for her first visit to Abaco and in thinking of excursions, I remembered Green Turtle Cay. Is there a recommended place for lunch that anyone knows of that is islandy yet has terrific food?
I'm Marsh Harbored out!! Need something different.

Wrecking Tree has great food and has a local feel..and it's a short walk to Miss Emily's Blue Bee Bar! A must for the real Goombay Smash.

On Green Turtle there is a restaurant called McIntosh's. GREAT breakfast sandwiches... my friend and I each ordered and I asked for a plain BLT and she requested an egg, bacon and cheese sandwich and it came with lettuce and tomato on that fresh bahamian bread. I gotta tell ya I had sandwich envy! Also their conch chowder is delicious. The last time I was there I had to go back twice in one day for the tasty treat!
Also if you are looking for something fun to do and a great meal all in one go out with Lincoln or Marcus Jones for a beach picnic/fishing excursion. WELL worth the time and money!
I've stayed on many different islands over there and I do believe Green Turtle is my favorite. The people there are fantastic... enjoy your trip!

& don't forget Pineapple's, an outdoors place on the harbour w/a pool. The grouper fingers & slaw make a great lunch.

If you are looking for sit down lunch, there are two places we enjoy. First is Pinneapples by there pool. They have a bar and picnic tables around a pool next to the bay. The food is a wee bit pricy but always yummy with fresh fish and conch on the menu.
Second is the screened in patio at Green Turtle Club. It looks out over White Sound. Also a bit pricy but lots of options and very relaxing. You can go into the little shop at the Club and do what girls usually love to do...browse the bling!
At the end of the boardwalk is Brendal's Dive shop, always worth a moment of your time to look through and say "hello" to Brendal or Mary, his wife.
Oh, there is also Bluff House Marina on the other side of the White Sound. They too have a nice sit down restaurant and a shop to browse. Take the walk to the top of the hill for a great view.
And remember, "time together with a girlfriend.......Priceless"! Enjoy!

I love Green Turtle!!!! and have spent alot of time there. All the places mentioned are very good. I would like to add to the list. Laura's Kitchen and Harvey's both have excellent prices and excellent food. I like to hear all the local going ons at Laura's Kitchen. Another fun place to hang out at and have a good bite is the Green Turtle Liquor Store. It reminds me of a English pub. Spend some time visiting with David Bethel while there. He is part of the historical society at Green Turtle and can share tons of history about the island.
I would also like to recommend a day excursion for you . If you have a rental boat or are over on your own boat go to Munjack. Pack a lunch and you can eat at the picnic tables there. The stingrays will come up to you and either eat out of your hand or let you pet them. They usually come around when the boat pulls up Brendal take divers and snorkelers there and the stingrays are used to the attention. Then take the path over to the ocean side and enjoy another one of the Abacos beautiful beaches.
