Sometimes you just get lucky with the shutter button. These are from 1998. Not Abaco but I thought I would share. Maybe I'll go back to using my 35mmhttp://coconuttelegraph.net/forums/images/icons/icon7.gif At the time I was messing with shutter speed for action shots.

and goodwill toward all men. Being positive, enjoying life's simple moments, sharing good, healthy stories, and moments of enlightenment, enjoying our children, athletics.
BTW, the Abaco Soccer Programme is in full force with incredible soccer games every Saturday and Sunday in Dundas and Murphytown. If you want to get off the beaten path, come on over to these games. Lots of food, great Bahamian soccer players (teenage and adults), tons of locals and a great time. The soccer is amazing.
Soccer rocks! All you need is a ball and go! Come see it!

That is one of the best Abaco Parrot photos I've ever seen. Nice job. Do you mind telling where you took this shot and what time of year??

Thanks Larry,
I appreciate the compliment. I took it on Man O War in February of 2005. The parrots were everywhere that month, it was amazing. That photo uses very little zoom, I just walked right up to them and starting shooting photos.

Shutter speeds.... that seem to be the make it or break it of a great shot. I love my 35mm but I also love digital. I have and use different digital cameras but I guess my favorite is my digital SLR . Fast shutter speeds and I can easily do my own editing.
I know this isn't a photo forum but photos and camera techniques have alot to do with Abaco. We need great shots to share with those who are not here but would like to be. Also, to create wonderful memories for those who are lucky enough to be here.

but, as has been carefully outlined at the top of this BOARD for longer than most folks have been members of this BOARD . . . . . . .
"Here's the place to ask questions about Abaco, announce events, make comments, look for friends...
But please remember this is a Community Board.
NO Spam, NO Commercial Posting, NO Flames, NO Dising,
NO Grouches, NO Rumours, NO Copyrighted Material, NO Politics "
So I guess anything you'd like to add is basically OK here. And yes, even for the most inquisitive minds, even asking "what does that have to do with Abaco?" is OK too. I suppose we all tend to forget that some are more "challenged" than others when trying to use their imagination to see the funnnn of life itself . . . . Even for those folks, now you know :) . I'm glad so many of you could help our more "limited perspective" audience to better appreciate the complete landscape of all of those who enjoy Abaco.

Nancy, thanks for putting that song in my head today. It’s been there all day …. 526,600 minutes …. I finally figured out where it is from….. My son loves the movie Rent. He’s very musically endowed …. I’m going to get the CD…. none of this internet stuff about downloading. I lost $22.35 on an itunes account with those silly cards you buy.
Elcahun, thanks for the pic of the deer
SCMatt, that parrott pic is amazing
Beach Pace, looks like you have an ocean lover
Danali Star , I’ll look at the Digital SLR. I have an old Canon T70, Canon EOS and an Olympus digital C-3030 with the waterproof case.
To everyone else, thanks for your comments.
Some people see the nubs of a flowering brush that have been eaten away and think “Darn Deers”; I think”plant some more they must be hungry” (thanks elcahun for the pic of the deer).
Some people see the nub of a tree stub or bush and think ”Darn Beaver”; I think “Wow, how did they get that stump so sharp and the cut so precise? Isn’t it amazing how they build a dam?”
Some people see the attached pictures and think ”Poop, messy watering pitcher”; I think “Wow, what a wonder, spring is coming, I’ll be quiet on my deck and give them some space. Thank God I can hear the chirping”.
In the last pic I am “sharing my habitat with the fisher people”. Another tournament starts Saturday and I am thankful our cove is finally back after a three year draw down. So when’s the next tournament in Abaco? I’d rather be watching one there… but this will do for now.
Some people see this post and think “What does this have to do with Abaco?” I think
Of the Wonder of Abaco and how blessed I am to have discovered such a Treasure.
Of the friends I have made on The Board
Wow, what a wonderful thing building a nest, just like Abaco and its’ wonders
Spring is here, I feel the warmth of Abaco and counting down to my trip in May.”
So what do you think? Please enjoy and share your habitat with the wonders of our world, and we should continue to share anything we want with those who share our love for the wonder of Abaco.

We love wildlife. The deer hang out at this little trailer camp called "Beyond Hope" in North Idaho. They know it's safe there. On the other hand, these Montana buffalo have been known to take on a car. We were lucky to catch them heading towards the river. Yes the big guy was that close.
I think it's great to see what other members take pleasure in when not in Abaco. We're heading to Yellowstone this June.

Sorry but that does sound like a slam. Years ago the moderators did tend to shut down threads that did not directly deal with the Abacos or became a two person conversation. These days things are a little more free form, we even had a thread about sharks.

-DougForgot to mention in my last post. I think that Moderator has moved on. The Board seems a bit different since this past summerhttp://coconuttelegraph.net/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif. I really wanted to jump into this one with a couple fabulous photos but I can't get them to upload. I'm enjoying everyone elses pictures even if they aren't in the Abaco Islands!!!!! Great fun. They may be too large. Sometimes even if you resize them to 640x??? it still might be a little too large depending on the pixels and all that.
Check the size. If you still have trouble and want to send them to me, I'll resize and send back to you or just post them for you. Be glad to help.

If they're too big you need to reduce the size. See the FAQ thread on how to post pics.
Grew up on trailer vacations in the NW. My mom (86) still has a trailer in North Idaho she spends a couple months at in the summer. Hopefully my bride and I will have the chance to camp in the future.

I have also been having trouble getting my pictures to upload today. I have tried 4 times. I have uploaded pictures to the board before. So I understand how to resize and all that. I thought it was a issue here (Marsh Harbor) it has rained most of the day so I figured everyone with a oii account is online. I will try again later. I have some Manatee pictures from our area in Florida.

We have been lucky enough over the last couple of years to spend a minimum of 7 months a year in Abaco. It seems to me that a huge part of the Abaco attitude is meeting new people and sharing stories and learning all about them. So it seems natural that the Message board would go that way from time to time. I am really enjoying this thread. Just like the thread on what business backgrounds members have was also such a success. I don't think that this type of thread in any way slows down the information shared about Abaco. Everyone still jumps right out there with suggestions and advice on boat rentals, where to stay, where to go etc...
This way we can just get to know each other a little sooner than over a few cocktails at a board meeting.

Love that trailer shot. That's the way it is on Pend Oreille (Ponderay) Lake. Many people keep their trailers there year round. And seems everyone plants flowers. My stepdad used to say he needed a vacation from vacation. But I know he and mom loved it. Potlucks, BBQs, cocktail parties, fishing, bridge games, horseshoes.

For all you golfers out there...The Floating Green on Lake Couer d'Alene. It actually can be moved to create a par three between 130 and 200 yards. (Don't get any ideas Bakers Bay.)
Our backyard view. That's the Pacific. We don't get Shuttle launches, but those trails are from rockets launched from Vandenberg AFB. It's unspent fuel that freezes.

. . . . . no "slam" intended. . . . . I've seen how slams are done.
It's just great to see so many others leading the way for some who might not enjoy life as much as they could . . . . . there is so much out there to see and so little time. It's much more fun to see the world through the eyes of a child - full of wonder! It's really fantastic that we have such a wonderfully diverse group of Board Members who are willing to let others see how much fun sharing is. ;)

These are some of the Manatee's from our area in Vero Beach, Fl. These were taken at the marina. They were so playful that day and stayed by the boat for over an hour. The first one is the mother and calf. Notice the last one is laying on its back with its fins across its chest. The last one is a manatee at least 8 feet long.
