and just have a few questions -

It is our first visit to the Bahamas at ALL, and we resonated most with what we learned of Abaco and so chose it for this week's holiday.

We will definitely visit the Fair on the 24th, because we've had our raffle tickets for months and have to see if we win!

But we'd love to know a few things:
1. What should we not miss?

2. Where might we best meet people who LIVE in/around Hopetown that we might chat with about that idea?

3. Is it chilly at night now, since the temps look pretty cool, 65-75F? Or, is it a bit chilly in the daytime, since it near water (I have frozen in Santa Barbara, Calif. in temperate weather because of the dampness). Just trying to pack what I need - but knowing enough from reading this Board that I really don't need to pack much!

4. I am a photographer (now for the love/fun, but professionally in the past) -- anything that MUST be seen and "shot"? I also own birds and horses, so would love to see those, if possible.

5. Is it worth going to the larger Marsh Harbour area and exploring over there? We'll have a golf cart, but no boat, but could rent one. So how about smaller cays?

Anything else I need to know - other than relax, exhale, enjoy?!

Thanks all!
Patty, and Rudi (ready to leave Canada for a week!!)

Looks as though you are good to go. Warm temps of Abaco should be a welcome relief.
1. You'll not see everything in one trip ..... just plan on coming back
2. Wherever you go on Elbow, resturants, groceries, shops .. they are all wonderful people.
3. I take a zip up cotton jacket I got from Nippers years ago. Just layer and you'll be fine. I usually have a cotton blanket on me on the golf cart at night.
4. You'll know when to click the pic ..... take camera in a zip lock bag and take wherever you can ..... the place is magical ... capture what you can.
5a. Take in Marsh Harbour on your way in from the airport or on your way out when you return. Most taxis will keep your luggage while you explore Marsh Harbour while waiting for your flight time.

5b. With a week, the golf cart should keep you occupied on your first trip. You can always go out with Froggies right there in Elbow if you want to visit one of the other Cays.

Looking forward to some pics. If you need help posting let us know. If you take your laptop you can usually get a signal at "The Edge" and other places in town. Most important ...... have fun, explore on your own ...... and respect the people of Abaco who are so gracious to let us enjoy their beautiful home.

Already looking at options to fly direct Canada-MHH, because flying through the US has been nuts so far, and we haven't left yet! Three flight time changes so far! How is the weather in November? :-)

2. Wherever you go on Elbow, resturants, groceries, shops .. they are all wonderful people.

I can imagine...

Good advice! I hate being cold.

4. You'll know when to click the pic ..... take camera in a zip lock bag and take wherever you can ..... the place is magical ... capture what you can.

I'll have a big camera and some lenses, camera bag, and be ready and looking!

We'll see how we can do this.

I will - thank you!

If you take your laptop you can usually get a signal at "The Edge" and other places in town.

It is our goal to make this our first holiday without the laptops, and you don't know how difficult that will be, with 100+ emails a day for us on average, and all important in one way or another. But this is not going to be a laptop holiday!

;)

Thank you, Abacomah, for all your thoughts!!
Best,
Patty

Just got back from 10 days in paradise and would suggest renting bikes (only 10 $ a day right @ public dock) and we rode out to Tahiti beach stopping @On Da Beach and also Abaco Inn for beverages . A little hilly ride but beautiful views. Enjoy and just relax. We Miss The Abacos already JVH Hello Harry @ Catnapzzz
