Suggest that whoever plans to go by boat from Florida to the Abacos should read this thread about the status of Walkers Cay: http://outdoorsbest.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=275305
As per my latest information, Bahamas Customs is still operating at Walkers Cay, but for any refueling and replenishment of supplies you would have to go to Grand Cay (e.g. Rosie's).
Whatever will happen to Walkers Cay, and whoever is going to be the new owner of this cay, this island is located at a unique position when traveling (sailing/motoring) to The Bahamas, and still has a great potential, provided the new owners will find a team that can bring Walkers Cay back to its old glory, fame and reputation. In the meantime Rosie has to prepare his outfit for the season 2005, as he is basically the only player in town unless something dramatic happens out there and things are turned around with a speed that is outside the norms. But you know, things can happen.

FYI Last year there was no customs at Grand Cay and if you have a deep draft boat you won't be able to get into the harbor for fuel.

For now Customs at Walkers is going to remain open. Not sure how baoters will check in but I have cleared from my plane and plan to do the same on Friday.
