We are coming down again in March and staying at the Treasure Cay beach Villas. Does anyone know if there is any place to rent windsurfing boards? Our boys are 11 and 12 and it seems like the best place in the world to teach them to windsurf.

Thanks!

P.S. - Here's a couple of pictures from our trip last year!

Beautiful pics.... Thanks for posting them.

The Treasure Cay Hotel on the beach right there at the Coco Bar rents items for the day. Last time we rented was a few years ago. The children rented some paddle boat type things.

I would think they might have wind surfers. Hopefully someone has rented form them recently.
Again, your pics are great!!!!

Thanks for the information Abacomah!! My wife and I visited The Abacos last year for the first time and we are hooked! We are bringing our boys this time for their March break and will do some diving as well. This is truly an incredible place and we can't wait to get back. :D

Here's some more pictures.

. . . . we used to find sand dollars in quantity up in that area during the summer months when we'd "wade" over to the little cay just off the point there. Is that still the case?

Yes we did and we also found true paradise. Notice all the people in our pictures. ;) This is not your average beach. At low tide you can walk for miles in powdery white sand!! Unbelievable!

I have been going to TCB for a few years, the rents moved there. It would be nice to have a few items available but there is not much available for rental.

The Coco bar - does have some items for rent - but they have no idea how to manage it. They had some windsurfing equipment and they were not taking a deposit. I was there one day that they were open, and somone had THE windsurfer out - put the fin through the sail and shredded it. End of that rental....

Wherever (Hood River, Baha, SanFran) I have been to rent witnsurfing equip it is relatively expensive and they require some form of deposit. There is no way to operate a business otherwise because so much of the equipment gets damaged.

I have equipement I keep meaning to ship but it would be a hassle. Your kids are not too big and are new to windsurfing try a windglider - you can travel with it:

I have looked at it my self a few times.

Last I knew, Boat Harbor had A windsurfer to rent, although not exactly a good beach to do it from. Windsurfing equipment isn't exactly cheap, so you can't blame them for asking a high price. I usually bring two rigs (boards and sails) over with me in the summer, and I try to set up lessons from Tahiti beach or Fowl cay over the cruiser's net.

The pictures are absolutely beautiful Pumpdaman. What time of year were you there last year? This is just what we need to look at to think warm thoughts. It is 16 degrees here in NY with a wind chill of -12. Can't wait to get back there.

Our visit to Treasure Cay was the last week of February 2006. I know what you mean on the cold weather, we live in Fort Erie, Ontario next to Buffalo and it was 2 degrees with a wind chill of -25 degrees. I have researched the windgliders and it turns out our local Canadian Tire Store sells them for $499.00 CAD. I will take one down with us for sure. :)

Thanks for the info. on the windsurfer. We will inquire as well.
