We'll be in Elbow Cay late March/early April, staying on the north end, with 2 kids (ages 6 & 8). We'll have a boat and hope to spend the majority of our time snorkeling, exploring beaches and various cays, and of course eating and drinking! (the latter for the adults only, of course). :)

I could see the kids appreciating a break from the saltwater and the chance to swim in a pool. What is the general policy at facilities with swimming pools? I thought I read somewhere that Sea Spray and Abaco Inn don't mind you using the pool as long as you have lunch and/or drinks there...is that true? How about Treasure Cay resort? Are there other pools on other cays?

Yes, you are welcome to use the pools at those two places on Elbow.
Other cays also have the same situation.
On Guana Cay has pools at Sunset Beach Bar, and Nippers, where you can spend time eating, drinking, and using the pools.
I'm sure others can provide specifics for some of the other cays.

We have 2 girls, now 9 and 11, who also appreciate a break from the waves and salt. We have never had a problem finding a place to eat and use the pool. Conch Inn on Marsh, Nippers on Guana, Abaco Inn on Elbow, and Abaco Beach Resort on Marsh- these are the ones where we have eaten and had a swim. Fun time at all of these.

Saugatucker, There is also the Hope Town Harbour Lodge pool, great place to have lunch and swim in the pool or ocean. There is an absolutely beautiful sea side beach on the North End on the lee (Nathan's), perfect for children. Have fun!!

I think I read somewhere that you can also use the pool at Hopetown Harbour Lodge if you buy drinks and/or food. I hope so because we'll be staying right next door for a week in mid May and it would be nice to use it! Anyone know for sure?

104 days till we're there. We're almost down to double digits, woo hoo! :D

You can use the pool at the Marina by Tipsy's also. Very nice location and pool.

Where is Nathan's beach? We're staying at Buttonwood Hammock, apparently it's very close to the north end docks. Wondering where the nearest good beach is.

Also, while I'm at it: we'll be there for 8 days (not including travel days) and have a boat for 6. Will we be sorry, staying 1 mile north of town, that we don't have a golf cart? The house comes with 2 bikes and we can rent 2 more for the 4 adults...does anyone rent kids' bikes?

Thanks, everyone, this board is so informative!!

And as a Buckeye alum & fan, I'm glad I joined the board after the avatar agreement! I agree with the others..at least we beat Michigan and wow, what a great first 16 seconds to the bowl game!

Isn't there a public pool in Hopetown? (someone may know)

Saugatucker -- I would suggest you rent a golf cart, no question about it. It's a very long walk into Hopetown. If you plan on going out to eat at night, you will be very happy you rented one.

My children actually keep a running "pool count" on our trips.

We have never had an issue with using the pools at any of the resorts. Some of them are saltwater pools, but still very refreshing and the kids love pools.

Some of our favorites: 1. Abaco Inn 2. Hopetown Lodge 3. Boat Harbour 4. Jib Room @ Marsh Harbour 5. Bluff House at Green Turtle 6. Guana Beach Resort 7. Nipper's ( if you get there early)

The hotels do not mind you enjoying the pools while eating or drinking. The lodge is a great place and the snorkling out front is great. It is deep further out on the reef, so put life preservers on the kids. Sea Spray and Abaco Inn are great. Also, there is a town pool, but I do not know the rules on usage.
