I have never flown them. Would be considering FLL - TCB. Any issues with this carrier? I am used to Vintage so that would be my standard of comparison. I have to connect with another airline so reliability, etc. is most important. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

More....the thing I am concerned about most is the inability to speak to anyone. I also understand they are not a "scheduled" carrier vs. VPJ? How do you know if a particular flight is going to go or not? What if they don't have enough passengers?

OK, finally figured out the phone number for Yellow. Had trouble navigating the web page. They cleared up most of my questions. Still would like opinions on reliability. Thanks for your patience.

We have flown with YAT, very dependable and from the post's that I have read in the past the number of passengers that are booked are not a problem.. There might be some weather related issues that YAT can't control..

Adjusted my connections to fly Vintage. Yellow Air tickets were $50.00 more from FLL to TCB. Also, the flights I needed on Yellow Air were wide open, no seats booked at all. They were kind enough to tell me that if they were NOT booked up within two days of the flight, they would be cancelled. I am flying within two weeks so I couldn't take the chance even though I was willing to pay more to meet my first choice of connections.

Yellow Air sounds like a great outfit if you live near FLL but I can't risk their terms on a connection. I tried to use them once before and ran into the same issue.

Based on recommendations, I wouldn't hesitate to use them IF I didn't have a connection to deal with.

Thanks everyone.

Need to keep in mind Vintage flies turbo prop aircraft exclusively; faster and fly higher, above the weather. Piston aircraft are slower and if non pressurized are generally limited in altitude and have to dodge the weather rather than go above it.

Merry Christmas Gatorman!

Sorry you weren't able to get through on the phone yesterday. Ada was at the office by herself, so perhaps she was on another call.
Just to clear up a few things:

Yellow Air Taxi was awarded scheduled status by the DOT in May of this year. I don't know how to upload or attach documents on this forum, but you should have seen the link with the actual document on our website's home page. There is also a forum thread on this back in June.

I recall vividly the last time some folks missed a connection because of us. I believe it was in the early part of 2004 and the definition of a BAD DAY. We may have cancellations but we always protect our passengers on either Continental or Vintage at times very close to the original departure time. I would say that about 60 per cent of our passengers connect to/from other carriers at FLL.

Last month we ran a flight with only two passengers because there were not any flights available at the right time on the other two carriers.

Reliability is extremely important to us, as it really is all tied into providing great customer service. Showing up when people expect us to has allowed us to become so well respected in a relatively short amount of time. We have back-up aircraft and pilots to fill in when needed.

Mid-January through February is a bit of a lull between the holidays. Quite frankly, between our move to the main terminal (much easier for connecting passengers), and to our new headqaurters (please stop by), I have been concentrating on organizing flights for the next two weeks. That is why there are still empty flights in the system in January. Now if you were to book, it would no longer be empty! We would be commited to getting you back and forth as you need.

Vintage is a good operation and I hope that you have a fabulous time.

Please give Yellow Air Taxi a call the next time around!

Best wishes for a glorious and safe holiday,

Beth

I can vouch for Beth about Yellow Air Taxi's commitment to customer service. A couple of years ago we (2 couples) were returning from Marsh Harbour to make connections in Ft Lauderdale. After taking off, the pilot noticed a mechanical problem and decided to land at Treasure Cay. A mechanic and second plane were flown in to take us on to Ft Lauderdale. It was too late to make our connection and there were no flights to our destination that evening. Upon our arrival, Yellow Air already had us booked 1st class on a flight the next morning. They also put us up at a great hotel. They did this at their expense even though they weren't obligated to do so since we had booked two reservations. I have used Yellow Air Taxi many times and this was my only missed connection.

I have nothing but good things to say about Yellow Air and their wonderful customer service. Last month they flew one person to N. Eleuthera and my daughter to MH so she could be with us in Hope Town for Thanksgiving. They were the only ones booked for that flight and it still went. We were very grateful. On the other hand, I also love to fly Vintage.
