We spent last April & May in the Abacos living aboard our 40 foot sailboat. Quite nice. Myself, my wife & 7 year old, so we're in the water & on the beach most every day. Planning on coming to Abaco for 3-4 weeks around the Christmas Holiday, til about January 15. Barometer Bob's weather site tells me to expect a bit cooler weather, and water temps maybe 5 to 10 degrees cooler than we had in spring, wind about the same. Is this a time of year to expect lots of cold fronts ? Overall, can we expect pleasant weather and cruising conditions ? Suggestions / tips ?

Thanks - John

John, no way to really answer that question, it really depends on the weather ! It will be a lot cooler than April and May.

Last year it was so pleasant that we went out in the boat on both Christmas and New Years Day. The water was much too cold to get in, but the afternoon on the water was very pleasant.

Two years previous to that we were bundled up in the house shivering.

If the rumours are correct, with the passage of two hurricanes and a slow cycle in sunspot activity this may be a very cold winter.
