Hi All,
I'm an Abacos lover from my first trip the summer of my 11th year when I lived aboard Granny Goose with my Aunt Carol. I've been back twice more, another time aboard Granny Goose then at a family place on Sp Wells with my wife for our honeymoon (which actually occurred 5 yrs after we eloped). The boys are now 10 & 12 and we are going to come to the Abacos next summer. We are a water family and do trawler (power) bareboating. My questions are in regard to trip w/ Nautic Blue we are trying to plan for July 2007 10-14 days. I'm trying to budget for the trip and would like to get a feel for food costs and fuel (diesel at marina) prices at this time. Thanks!

I remember Granny Goose and Carole from about twenty years ago? The Goose was about a thirty five foot sloop and she used to stay at Club Solei in Hopetown. Quite an adveturous person!

I believe you get diesel and water and ice for the price of your charter. At least you do with the moorings sailboat charters (bareboats).
I found food to be only slightly more expensive than the states with the exception of chicken. Beef seems to be hot or miss. We mostly eat fish while we are there.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your replies. Great info. Have another question as we booked flights to MIA today using freq flier miles. Ran into one other thing I'd love to know if any of you have word of mouth referral on.
Carol may be in the Abacos June 2007 on a moorings sailboat w/ her grandson and family. Don't know if there are still 30' Newports out there but that's what her first boat was. Her son manufactured them in Marina Del Ray.
1. Suggestions for most economical US to MHH flights? We can fly out of MIA, WPB, FLL to Marsh Harbor. We fly into MIA on a Fri eve and I've blocked the day of Sat to get to MHH so we can go anytime. Have a bunch of rental car coupons for free days so can get to any of the above places via Hertz, motel and then hop to MHH.
2. Does anyone know of folks that have chartered from FL Yacht Charters? Abaco Resort Based if I recall correctly. Uncle Bob is the name I was given at the Marina. We're looking at a 37' Fountain Pajot powercat called Island Dancer.
Thanks!

Crosspatch,
Item 1). If you use the search function above and put in "airlines" you'll get a lot of info from previous posts. There are several airlines flying out of Florida. I just booked a Continental for under $200 out of Ft Lauderdale (FLL). I like coming back through FLL with customs over Miami. You can try USAirways, American (Miami), Vintage, etc....lot's of options.
Item 2). Never chartered so maybe some of Members can help you with this one.

Florida Yaght Charters out of Boat Harbour is a first class operation and "Uncle Bob" is a first class operator and person!

If you can fly American to Miami you can do round trip to Marsh Harbour as USAir does not fly there anymore. But you can get flights with American from Miami or if you hit the Fort Lauderdale Jet center you have a ton of options on small planes (American has the largest). Thing about the small planes is luggage.
Pop me an email if you want any information. I've flown them all.
