My friend Kim and I arrived on Guana on Saturday afternoon about 2:30pm. Maria and Troy picked us up at the dock and took us to my new time share at Ocean Frontier. Since we had only seen the places from the outside I was worried about what we bought. To my surprise the cabins are charming, clean and romantic. Too bad hubby couldn't come. His loss. Although at the last minute he decided he might come but the airfare was over the top. He learned a valuable lesson - listen to your wife.
The cabins at Ocean Frontier do not look big from the outside but once inside it is like a whole new world. They have a cute front porch with two adirondack (sp?) chairs to sit on and just chill. The porch is off the living room which is small but has all you can want. A TV to watch videos, a cd player, radio, puzzles, a few games and some books that I guess others have left. There is a table separating the living room and kitchen. The kitchen is small with a small refrigerator, two burner hot plate, micowave, coffee pot and toaster. I was told that the kitchens were being updated this winter with new and bigger refrigerators and cabinets and a drop in stove top. This will make it easier for those who like to cook on vacation. Me I only cook breakfast so it doesn't bother me one way or the other. There is a small bathroom and two bedrooms downstairs and a bed in the loft on the upper level. You can't drink and go up the stairs to the loft. There is a wall airconditioner in the living room area. We set it on high and figured we would be hot in the bedrooms. The first night we slept with the doors open and the ceiling fans on. In the middle of the night we both woke up and were calling each other to go turn down the air. We had a blanket, comforter and a sheet on and were freezing. Learned our lesson and turned down the air.
We did most of our drinking and dining at Nippers. With it being so close we figured we could imbibe more and not have far to go. I want to thank Johnny, Pat, Troy and Mikey for making our week wonderful.
We met up with Travelgirl3 and her three Travelguys in Hopetown for lunch one day. Had a nice lunch a mini reunion. Met them last year on Guana and have stayed in touch.
Went to the pig roast on Sunday. What else can you do on Guana on a Sunday. Was surprised that we heard no noise from our cabin from Nippers. Of course, after 3 frozen nippers I probably wouldn't have heard them if they came knocking.
I want to thank Ed from Ocean Frontier for getting us eggs when the store was out. I don't know where he got them but I am forever in his debt.
We had dinner at Blue Water Grill twice and it was good.
The only mishap was that I was looking at a shell in the ocean and turned my back and got knocked on my butt. I think I broke my big toe. It still hurts three weeks after the incident and my hip was killing me for three days. We were going to go snorkeling with Troy from Dive Guana but I couldn't move the morning we were supposed to go.
We took Continental from West Palm and it was on time coming and going.
I am glad I followed my heart and bought the time share at Ocean Frontier because for the next 24 years I will be coming to Guana. I wanted to buy a house on Guana but my husband wouldn't budge. We already have one at the beach in DE and said we couldn't afford two vacation homes. I know he was right but I still wanted a litle piece of Guana. When he said he would consider a time share I jumped on it and had one within two weeks. He still hasn't learned not to tell me those kind of things.
Oh well, only 340 days till next visit.
