We are going to sail our boat over to the Abacos in late March, and our son and his kids have a reservation for a Moorings charter at that time, so we can rendezvous with them. Any word on the state of the Moorings fleet and charter operation in MH? Thanks. Our prayers and thoughts are with Abaconians, and we have sent relief support through a local agency, and will continue to do so.

The Moorings fleet is pretty much intact after the storm. They had a couple of boats sink but they were refloated with mostly cosmetic damage.

Their docks , however, are a different matter. Their entire dock at the Conch inn was pretty much wiped out. They started working on it a couple of days after the storm and they are moving along a pretty good pace , though. They already have the frist six to 8 slips completed. They should be done in a couple of weeks and definitely will be done by the time you arrive in March.

This was just what I have observed in passing from the ferry dock at the Conch Inn. Might be a good idea to check in directly with them but they are certainly working hard like everybody else to get things back together .

Dive Guana has provided pretty accurate information. The base here at The Conch Inn sustained extensive dock and structural damage as a result of hurricane Jeanne. One of our fleet boats was partially submerged during hurricane Frances and one of our small power boats was partially submerged during hurricane Jeanne. Both of those boats and another small power boat sustained what we consider extensive damage and all three are currently in Ft Lauderdale for repair. The rest of the fleet is in pretty good shape ....considering. Three private boats sank at our docks during hurricane Jeanne.
We are commenciong partial charter service on October 31st and we will be in full operation by November 14th.
The hotel and docks are currently being reconstructed and we will have rooms and slips available from mid November. We are taking this opportunity to upgrade the resort here at the Conch Inn/Moorings.
By the time you arrive in March, the only difference you will find will be much improved facilities. I am sure that this will be the case for most properties throughout the Abacos.
