Anyone been around long enough to remember when the harbour was this empty? Instead of Albury's ferry, a seaplane would land you in the harbour. You could swim across to the lighthouse. Now, you can almost walk across on boat decks, LOL

Yes, I've been around that long. I first went to MOW in March of 1956 on a PBY flying boat! I was 10. I remember the Grumman Goose, I think it was called, landing in MOW Harbor once in the late '50's. Amazing!

I remember the flying boats and seaplanes, but we always made our passage from Nassau aboard the mailboat "Stede Bonnet", or one of the Cherokee fishing smacks, and yes, the harbours were much more bare as were the settlements! Progress is inevitable I guess. Can't say I miss the outdoor closets (toilets), but I certainly do miss the simpler lifestyle as hard as it was at times.
